PlayStation's first big announcement of 2026 is that it has three new DualSense designs and console cover color options. Dubbed The Hyperpop CollectionThe design of the range features vinyl black which dissolves into different colours, depending on which design you choose. The only downside is that there is nothing for PS5 Pro owners.
The Hyperpop collection has three color options Techno Red, Remix Green, and Rhythm bBue. The creators behind the designs have revealed that the collection is inspired by RGB lighting, which means we could see this black-and-white break down into a different color scheme used with different colors in the future.
I imagine these first three color options will sell well depending on how well they do.
Introducing the Hyperpop Collection of PS5
As is the case with the standard white slim PS5 cover, the top section of the new Hyperpop covers is black, with the bottom half appearing matte like the regular launch PS5. It's worth noting that these covers will not be compatible with standard launch PS5s. Only slimmer models of consoles released in 2023.
There have been some complaints that owners of the original PS5 have been left behind by PlayStation's new range of accessories, but the bigger issue is that the Hyperpop range, and everything else released by PlayStation, hasn't accounted for those forking out for the PS5 Pro.
One of the “rare” PS5 controllers was destroyed in transit
There goes $1,300 down the drain.
Nothing for PS5 Pro owners, again
There are no PS5 Pro covers in this new range, although the most powerful version of PlayStation's current-gen console is the latest model and has been on the market for over a year. The only alternate cover release for the PS5 Pro is Ghost of Yotei One from last year. However, if you don't like Yotei, you probably don't want this. If you do? Hard luck there too, because they were sold almost immediately and have not been restocked.
The wait continues for more PS5 Pro covers, but on the bright side, compatible DualSense controllers are compatible with all PS5s, whether you have the original launch-day model or last year's Pro. Unlike previous PS5 accessory collections, there won't be a surprise rollout, and all three options will be released on the same day – March 12, 2026. Pre-orders will open next week on January 16.
Hyperpop DualSense controllers will cost $84.99, Which, while expensive, is pretty standard for new PS5 controller designs. Covers, on the other hand, seem to be undergoing a silent price hike. All three covers in the new collection will cost $74.99 each, That's $20 more than PlayStation typically charges for its PS5 covers.
