Sanzaru Games, which was acquired by Meta in February 2020 and closed by the company in January 2026, reveals that it works. Jack and Daxter Remaster pitch for Sony. With permission, a former developer at the studio has shared what the opening cutscene of a remake of that Naughty Dog game would have looked like (at least early in development).
Is it worth it, it just isn't Jack and Daxter A remaster/remake that has been allegedly or intentionally pitched over the past few years. Rumors have suggested that, in the midst of working on the canceled live-service god of war The game, and its recent shutdown, was pitched by Bluepoint Games blood borne Remake, A Jack and Daxter Remake, and many other works. While that should be taken with a grain of salt, those rumors themselves highlight just how reasonable fans are. Jack and Daxter remaster/remake.
Sucker Punch doesn't want to make a new Sly Cooper game
Sly Cooper fans hoping for a new game from original developer Sucker Punch seem to be out of luck based on new comments from Nate Fox.
Daxter becomes Daxter in this Jak and Daxter Remaster pitch
Sanjaru found this out when it pitched the game to Sony in 2019; For the uninitiated, Sanzaru has worked on several projects for Sony during his tenure: a port of Secret Agent ClankRemasters of the original Sly Cooper Trilogy, and Sly Cooper: Thief in Time. Developer Travis Howe, who works as a senior animator at Sanzaru, recently revealed that the studio had pitched to Sony. Jack and Daxter Remastered in 2019. Howe clarifies, however, that this was for the pitch and was never commissioned or ordered by Sony, and demonstrated the opening animation of Dexter turning into the fictional half-otter, half-weasel thing that fans have come to love.

I'll be first in line for one Jack and Daxter Remastered, my love for the series turned into a tattoo on the bottom of my leg (with Jack's face Precursor Legacy, Jak 2and Jack 3as well as his Dark and Light Jack forms, and Daxter's). Unfortunately, the remaster didn't go ahead, and Howe didn't confirm or reveal why. At a glance, it looks very solid for the pitch. Jack's face is a bit too uncanny valley, going from the PS2 graphics to the new ones, his eyes don't translate particularly well, but it could have been refined in development. Daxter, however, looks perfect.
What stands out most about the footage, though, is how it tries to walk the fine line between old and modern, which is difficult even for old PlayStation mascots. Lighting, environmental detail, and character animation are all close to modern standards, while the general framing fits the original game beat for beat. Sanzaru proved himself Sly CooperAnd this opening cutscene seems to understand what fans want in a remaster of the original Jack and Daxter Games.
Why hasn't Sony greenlit any new Jack and Daxter games/remasters?
It is unknown why Sony did not move forward with one Jack and Daxter Pitch from any studio. There's some inherent difficulty in making a PS2 platformer suitable for a modern audience, especially when it comes to new fans, but it's worked before with legacy franchises. Jack and Daxter: Legacy of the Precursor And its sequels, even at a high point for these Legacy Revisited releases, are noticeably absent compared to their peers. Pitches like this show demand among developers, and it always has been for longtime fans.
Unfortunately, Sony doesn't seem to be moving forward with this type of remaster/remake at the moment, and it's uncertain when/if Sony will do anything with Sony. Jack and Daxter ip. The modern scenario strongly suggests that the green light will never come, but stranger things have happened.
