In early 2017, a fake poster was making the rounds online making the promise Resident Evil Netflix series. The image showed a creepy door (which was clearly an edited image Haunted mansion poster), it looks like the series will adapt the story of the first game. While that turned out to be false, Resident Evil It eventually got its own Netflix series in 2022. It released to negative reviews and was universally panned by fans, so I didn't bother watching it at the time.
I had filled in badly Resident Evil Movies and not interested in another live-action bastardization of one of my favorite video game franchises. But with that Resident Evil30th anniversary, I decided to check everything Resident Evil. I played the games, I watched all the CG projects, I read all the SD Perry books, I watched all the movies, and finally, I forced myself to watch the entire Netflix series in one sitting.
I marathoned all 29 Resident Evil games for the 30th anniversary, and here are my official rankings
I've replayed all 29 Resident Evil games for the franchise's 30th anniversary and ranked them from worst to best.
The Resident Evil The Netflix series was worse than people said. Instead of adapting video games, the Resident Evil The Netflix series kinda-sorta somewhat sticks to the games' established canon, while completely ignoring a ton of other stuff, as a result. Resident Evil In name only. It's really a low-quality teen drama more than anything else, but there are admittedly parts of it that are so bad it's at least funny.
There will be spoilers for this article Resident Evil suffrage
What is Resident Evil Netflix show?
Resident Evil Netflix takes place in two different time periods. In the past, we follow the exploits of Albert Wesker's children as they uncover the truth behind their work with the Umbrella Corporation. In the future, we see that umbrella monsters have ravaged the world, and so we get a post-apocalyptic story.
The Resident Evil The Netflix show is signed Resident Evil Monsters like zombies, zombie dogs, and lickers. This includes a guy who looks like the iconic chainsaw-wielding enemy Resident Evil 4And one character even references the first game's painful “Master of Unlocking” line.
Episode 5 of Resident Evil The Netflix show tries to mimic the games by having Wesker's kids solve puzzles, collect key items, and make their way to secret rooms. They also have to play “Moonlight Sonata” on the piano, and they find video evidence of Lisa Trevor. is the cherry on top Resident Evil 5 Nod, where it is confirmed that the events of that game are canon when Wesker references his own apparent volcanic death at the end of that game.

But for the most part, the Resident Evil The Netflix series is a waste of time, with a painfully slow pacing, weak characters, and little reason to watch. Lance Reddick does his best with the material and his performances as various Wesker clones are the highlight of the show, but otherwise it's almost unremarkable. It's easily in the top five worst Netflix shows I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of bad Netflix shows.
There's plenty of room for another Resident Evil TV show
But although the Resident Evil While the Netflix show was canceled after one season and generally considered a failure by fans, there is still room to try again. The concept promised by that fake poster — a TV series adaptation of the original game — is a possibility. It's wild what we have Seven direct action Resident Evil movies and entire Netflix series and have yet to get an actual, proper adaptation of the original. Resident Evil the game
A Resident Evil The Netflix series that adapted the original game (or maybe Resident Evil Zero wouldn't be a bad place to start) doesn't risk stepping on the toes of live-action movies at all. Welcome to Raccoon City was a flop that failed to mash the first two games together in an attempt at adaptation, and so its sequel plans have been scrapped, and Zach Cregger's Resident Evil The upcoming 2026 movie is believed to be a completely original story and not an adaptation of any video game. Maybe Netflix or another streamer could try their hand at something reasonable Resident Evil A TV series that judges sports. It would be a shame for the franchise's only TV outing to be a 2022 show, that's for sure.
