The following article contains spoilers for events after the Infinity Castle movie.
Demon Slayer Currently it is the most famous ever! When discussing its success, it is often attributed to its top-notch animation and soundtrack. But a big part of its success is also its diverse cast of characters. Each character has their own backstory, which helps them shine through the various arcs of the anime.
From Hashiras to demons, every character also gets a chance to show off their powers. The strength of swordsmen is shown through their elegant and powerful breathing styles, while the power of demons is usually reinforced through the use of supernatural abilities. Let's see who was the strongest character to appear in the different arcs of Demon Slayer.
Demon Slayer: Best Episode in Each Arc, Ranked
Demon Slayer is made up of iconic and memorable story arcs, and for each one, there is a single episode that stands above the rest.
To make the list fair, only characters with very prominent appearances in combat or during arcs are considered.
Final Selection Arc – Sakonji Urokodaki
The introductory arc briefly sets the atmosphere for the anime. We are aware of the existence of important roles like Hashiras, but we don't see them in action. A large part of the arc is spent on Tanjiro's training and building his character. That being said, we constantly see Urokodaki not only as Tanjiro's mentor, but also as an extremely strong person. He's introduced as a former Hasira, and that alone puts him on a level above the other characters in this arc, who are just trainees.
So it seems appropriate to keep it Sakonji Urokodaki As the strongest known character at the time.
Kidnapper's Bog Arc to Suzumi Mansion Arc – Tamayo
The events between the Kidnapper's Bog Arc, the Asakusa Arc, and the Tsuzumi Mansion Arc can be summed up under one title, as they featured only one major battle. Tanjiro and his newly found allies, Tamayo and Yushiro, encounter the Termari Demon and the Arrow Demon, who claim to be part of the Twelve Kizuki. Although their claims were false, they proved to be formidable enemies at the time.
It was mainly due to Tamayo's Blood Demon Art that they defeated the pair of demons. However Tamayo Not directly involved in the battle, her skills and knowledge make her the strongest character during this arc. The importance of his skills and knowledge has influenced the series here.
Mount Natagumo Arch – Giu
The Mount Natagumo Arc is undoubtedly one of Demon Slayer's most important arcs. It was under the threat of Tanjiro and his friends' twelve kizuki. Tanjiro fought incredibly in this arc when he went head-on against Rui. He almost defeated her using the Hinokami Kagura Dance. But that still doesn't make him the strongest character for this arc. He finally failed to defeat Rui.
At a critical moment, Giu Not only did he save Tanjiro by showing up, but he also easily defeated Rui. He gave fans a glimpse of Hashirus' power by casting him as an eleventh form that breathes water.
Rehabilitation Training Arch – Kanao
Remembered as the arc that officially introduced all Hashiras, the Rehabilitation Training arc featured some of the strongest characters in the anime. But even though they were painted, they were not seen in battle. Instead, the focus was on Butterfly Mansion. Tanjiro and the others participated in various exercises to improve their breathing techniques. Kanao was also present at the mansion and constantly defeated the others in practice. She had also mastered full concentration breathing, despite being in the same final exam as Tanjiro and Genitsu.
However, Tanjiro eventually lost canao For once, at that point, she seemed more experienced as a demon slayer, placing her as the strongest character in the arc.
Mugen Train Arc – Kyozuro Rengoku
It will come as a surprise to some to hear this Kyozuro Rengoku Mugen was the strongest character during the train arc. His epic battle against Akaja was an amazing display of his skills. Despite being pushed to the limits of the human body, his flexibility and sword skills allowed him to keep up with Akaja's superhuman strength and regeneration.
Akaja was so impressed with Rengoku's power that he declared him one of the Chosen. If Akaja hadn't sacrificed his vanguards and escaped, he would probably have died.

Entertainment district arc – Tengen
The highest rated season of Demon Slayer has many epic fights. From Tanjiro to Gyutaro, the various characters showed off their unparalleled skills and powers. But the voice laughs, Tengen UzuiTakes the crown for the strongest character. After being poisoned by Gyutaro, his heart stopped beating momentarily, causing his death.
But in episode 10, he rejoined the fight and used his musical score technique to fight Gyutaro. He did so when he had only one hand. This opportunity allowed Tanjiro and the others to behead the demon siblings.
Swordsmith Village Arc – Mitsuri
The Swordsmith Village arc focused on the fighting abilities of the two beloved Hashiras. Muichiro battles Gyokko and Mitsuri battles Johakuten, the strongest form of Hantengu by a mile. Both battles were incredible as they both showed Hashira's different strengths. While Muichiro's strength lay in his intelligence and stealth, Mitsuri used his physical strength and unique swordsmanship.
but Mitsuri’s battle seemed very difficult as she was not fighting the fourth-strongest member of the Twelve Kizuki. However, he had a long battle that continued until Tanjiro finished Hantengu's main body.
Hashira Training Arc – Nakime
The majority of the Hashira training arc was rather quiet, with the ghost slayers doing their best to become stronger under Hashiras harsh advice. But the final episode foreshadows the epic battles that await at Infinity Castle. As Muzan is controlled by Tamayo's Blood Demon Art, Himejima shows a brief but powerful display of power. He breaks Muzan's head and also avoids Muzan's attack.
Muzan, on the other hand, regenerates his head in an instant. He continues to fight Himejima while Tamayo's Blood Demon Art is also holding him back. But both of them only show a fraction of their powers in this arc.
When discussing strengths, it not only considers someone's strength in direct combat, but also the impact of their skills on the overall situation. Muzan was besieged by the Hashiras and possibly dragged into a hostile battle. But in due time, Nakime Not only saved him but also led countless demon slayers to Infinity Castle. This feat alone saved the Demon Lord and pushed the Demon Slayers into a dangerous and unknown battlefield, giving him the well-deserved title of the strongest character in this arc.
Infinity Castle Arc – Muzan
This arc was nothing less than an epic fight. Both Upper Moon and Hashirus put on a display of power that fans had already seen. Notably, Akaza's fight against Tanjiro and Giyu only ended because Akaza decided to do so. Also, it took the combined efforts of the three Hashira and Zenya to take down Kokushibo. While both of their fights were impressive, their strength doesn't come close to Muzan's.
At the end of the Infinity Castle arc, Muzan had already regenerated and introduced himself as the most powerful opponent in the manga. Although most of the action takes place in the next arc, Muzan shows glimpses of his power by being able to fight three Hashiras and Tanjiro at once without breaking a sweat.
Sunrise Countdown Arc – Yorichi
Muzan continues his dominance in the final arc of Demon Slayer. Despite Tamayo and Shinbou getting weaker every second due to drugs, he continues to be a formidable opponent to the combined might of the demon slayers. While Tanjiro manages to unlock the thirteenth form of Sun Breathing, it still doesn't reliably put him anywhere near Muzan's power.
But we can see a stronger character than Muzan through Tanjiro's ancestral memory. Yoriichi TsugikuniThe encounter with Muzaan is shown in these chapters, where he not only confronts Muzaan but in an instant cuts him to pieces. He went on to destroy 1,500 of the 1,800 pieces Muzan had divided, but Muzan eventually escaped. This single fight makes Yorichi not only the strongest character in this arc but the entire anime.
His power was so one-sided that he continued to haunt Muzan hundreds of years later. During the fight with Muzan, Tanjiro also noticed scars on Muzan's cells caused by Yorichi's attack.
