The first whisper of the new The Witcher 3 DLC appeared in the summer of 2025, when Polish journalist Boris Nispilak claimed that the studio was working on a remake of Flower Theory. Also worth noting is a December 17, 2025, video posted on YouTube by Polish sports journalist Krystian Smoszna. In it, Smoszna speaks with the former The Witcher 1 Project leader Ryslaw Chojnowski, and claims to have heard both upcoming The Witcher 3 DLC. While they do not claim to have specific information beyond what Niespielak reported, they both note that they are willing to believe the project exists.
There's also a slightly more interesting source: Noble Securities market analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski. In December 2025, Chrzanowski published a report about CD Projekt Red stock, in which he claimed to expect “another paid add-on (DLC). The Witcher 3“It will be released this May. This release date seems a little unrealistic at this point, but it's interesting that an analyst from a Polish investment firm would make such a confident claim: It's not a content creator, journalist, or other type of game industry insider trying to ride the hype train or grab some influence.
CD Projekt Red wouldn't confirm or deny any of the rumors, though it has come close.
All the while, CD Projekt Red itself has refused to comment on the aforementioned evidence, which is somewhat out of character for the developer. After all, CDPR has learned the hard way that over-hyping and under-delivering can ruin your reputation and credibility. CD Projekt tends to squash such rumors if they become big enough, and these DLC rumors are certainly enough at this point.
However, the developer may have hinted at the project a few months after the rumors started doing the rounds. In the November 2025 financial report, CDPR's CFO said, “New material indicated in recent calls and reports is likely to be released in the coming year, increasing the impact on our results and achieving earnings conditions for the first phase of the incentive program.” It's a bit gimmicky, and it's hard to imagine what else the CFO is talking about here; “New content” is made to sound important, so it's probably not something small like a quality-of-life update, a port, etc.
CD Projekt Red's latest hint leaves even less room for doubt
Finally, we come to CD Projekt Red's March 2026 quarterly report, in which the company plans to “publish one of its upcoming unannounced gaming projects” “in the next quarter,” meaning sometime this year. The higher-ups at CDPR (those making these statements in the financial reports) are unlikely to be aware of these rumors and the hype surrounding them, and thus are unlikely to know what kind of impact these comments will have. Put another way, why would CD Projekt Red continue to refer to Shadow “unannounced games” if they weren't actually working on them? The Witcher 3 Expansion, because most would assume they're referring anyway?
