The Witcher 4 had the same story director as the first Witcher

summary

  • The Witcher 4 will feature Ciri as a protagonist, confirming a long-term plan by CD Projekt Red.

  • About 100 developers from The Witcher 3 are still working on The Witcher 4.

  • The main story director and visionary has remained since The Witcher 1.

The Witcher 4's decision to include Ciri as a protagonist immediately came under fire after the game's reveal at The Game Awards last year. A vocal minority declared that it was “another gender-swapping game” and that “the backhanded ugliness of women hurt Siri hard.” It seems that these people believed that there was no long-term vision and that CD Projekt Red was simply reacting to the way the gaming landscape was evolving.

Speaking on Twitter, (via PC gamer) CD Projekt Red CEO Michal Nowakowski confirmed that the company still has around 100 developers working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, including some “veterans from The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 1”.

Responding to comments later, Nowakowski confirms that the series has excellent continuity in terms of story. He said, “The main story director has been the same person since The Witcher 1. The main visionary has been the same person since The Witcher 1. And I've been ever since.” [sic] Even 20 years.”

The main story director is the same person from Witcher 1. The main vision holder is the same person from Witcher 1.

As is often the case in the sports industry at the moment, Nowakowski's tweet was hijacked by those looking to cause grief. CD Projekt Red Sweet Baby Inc. Responding to allegations of working on, Nowakowski said, “We are not working and have never worked with Sweet Baby. Never heard of them until recently tbh.”

It flies in the face of the agenda that's been pushed about the game as it's been revealed, but there's no doubt that some people will soon find something else to be upset about.
