This devastating Overwatch April Fool's prank deserves to be more than just a joke

Overwatch And April Fools' Day have gone hand-in-hand for a while now, as one of the funniest patches of the year sees the game revamped with a wide array of gags. The most immediately recognizable are the googly eyes that are attached Overwatch's heroes, and they look as silly as they'd hoped. An even better special LTM is one that looks like it was accidentally uploaded by Team 4, showing up as a string of text via the in-game menu (or in this year's case, Underwatch). The mod is treated as a parody of balance updates where heroes are given wacky abilities to make fun of community discussions, including some humorous patch notes from Blizzard and new voice lines for characters. Yet this year, all I can think of is an unofficial April Fool's gag.

In addition to Underwatch, OverwatchThe latest April Fools' Day celebration features a Pachimari program icon on the taskbar, acting as an extra little joke for PC users.

Overwatch's DC collab is obviously fake, but it still hurts

with Marvel Rivals Existing now, one's dream Overwatch And the Marvel collab is pretty much dead, but there's hope for a team-up with DC, a comic book brand I love. Which is why I had a big smile on my face when I opened Reddit this morning and saw a post featuring a screenshot from Overwatch Cavalry, highlighting an unofficial source breaking down the updates. Overwatch Skin leaks, and more. My eyes locked on Superman Soldier: 76, Batman Cassidy, and Wonder Woman Vendetta, the last combo fitting so well (and the mockup looking so good) that I immediately bought it. Then, I read the caption.

In defense of Overwatch Cavalry, the joke is made perfectly clear. April 31st isn't a real day, for anyone, and why would Cassidy be chosen for a character who hates guns (especially when Genji exists, since his shuriken can easily be swapped out for batarangs)? There is also a mention of fantasy play DC Associates To run the house gag. But as one of the many, many people who forgot that day and fooled themselves with an April Fool's gag, I'm still sad. See, it's as good as a joke, it's also my most wanted Overwatch collab and something I've long hoped to see confirmed.

What other skins would work for a DC x Overwatch collab?

As the proud owner of over 100 DC omnibuses, it didn't take long to come up with a range that could be added far beyond the Trinity (Supes and Bats are definitely Soldier and Cassidy — maybe Rein and Genji — but I like the idea of Wo Vendetta x). Potential DC and Overwatch Collab skins may include, but are certainly not limited to:

  • Cyborg Doomfist

  • Starfire Illari

  • Gorilla Grodd Winston

  • The Red Hood Ripper

  • Farrah Hawkgirl

  • Joker Jankrat

  • Be a roadhog

  • Black Canary Junker Queen

  • Lex Luthor Hazard (Kryptonite spikes please)

  • Green Arrow Hanzo

  • Blue Beetle Emre

  • Mr. Terrific Zenyatta

  • Unravel the fire

  • Ice Mei

  • Robin Tracer (Carrie Kelly)

  • Jonah Hex Cassidy

  • Harley Quinn Mercy

  • Poison Ivy Moira

  • Flash flashed

  • Nightwing Wuyang

  • Aquaman Ramatra

  • Green Lantern Lifeweaver (Kyle Renner)

  • Green Lantern Symmetra (Jessica Cruz)

  • Green Lantern Sojourn (Joe Mullaney)

  • Freya the hunter

  • Brainiac Sigma

  • Constantine soldier: 76

  • Batgirl Kiriko (Cassandra Kane)

  • Batgirl Sombra (Barbara Gordon)

  • Catwoman Widowmaker

Until James Gunn gets his wish and rivals a DC hero shooter Marvel Rivals Actually made, I need Blizzard and DC to work together like yesterday. The skins above are only scratching the surface of what a collaboration between the two properties could look like, as it could easily justify several rounds of skins. With maps around locations like Gotham and LTMs giving heroes equally viable abilities, I'm hoping this April Fool's gag isn't the closest we'll ever get to such a collaboration. More than any other prank I've seen today, this idea is a fair case of “If I laugh, I'll cry.”
