Deltarun While Chapter 5 is still several months away, a new message from Toby Fox sets a realistic timetable for the release of the next installment in the episodic Bullet Hell RPG. While fans still have a long wait, in progress Deltarun Chapter 5 is coming along nicely, and its creator wants fans to know what to expect as it nears completion.
Wildly successful follow-up Undertale Set in a completely different universe, DeltarunThe first chapter was released exclusively on PC on Halloween 2018, with ports to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch a few months later. Fans who dove into the launch had to wait almost three years for the second chapter to be released in September 2021. Deltarun The release date of Chapters 3 + 4 takes even longer, launching on all platforms in June 2025, just in time for the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. With three more chapters planned, the next installment should leave fans with much less downtime, but exactly how much is not yet certain.

The new chapters of Deltarune set the stage for what comes next, and while the adventure can be unpredictable at times, foreshadowing abounds.
Deltarune Chapter 5 Progress 'Going Great'
In the last major update Deltarun Fox revealed the release date for Chapter 5 in mid-September, predicting that fans will be able to dive into it in the first half of 2026. Now, an even newer update from the creator, posted in the game's official Winter 2025 newsletter, seems to indicate that the previously revealed timeline will still hold true, making it look a little if not more optimistic. According to the newly revealed information, Chapter 5 “will take several months to release the game from where we are now.” That leaves a large, unclear window of time for a potential release, but Fox has detailed several things that will happen before the next chapter is ready to debut.
The progress report shows that a lot of work has been done on the current project, except for the background touching work, all the rooms in the next chapter have been completed. Likewise, all of the game's visuals are practically finished, requiring only a little polish to get them ready for release. There are a few battles that remain unfinished, but all of them are technically functional from start to finish, including some boss battles. Deltarun Chapter 5 needs some adjustments to their bullet hell patterns and pacing before Fox can officially announce them in full.
Looking to the future, the update says localization of Chapter 5 is already underway, and once that phase is complete, it will be ready to move into the commercial testing phase. Additionally, in January, it will be time to shift focus to ensure the game runs properly on all available consoles. With that in mind the first four chapters Deltarun Use its mouse mode on the Nintendo Switch 2, and while this feature may return as part of Chapter 5, this part of the process could pose some challenges for Fox as he works to ensure that all versions of the game are as bug-free as possible at launch.
