Turok Origins is coming in 2026

If you're a fan of dinosaurs, then surviving the big 2025 is pretty tough, all things considered. Between the lack of video games, mediocre movies like Jurassic World Rebirth and the general malaise surrounding extinct creatures, things are grim.

That said, things could get even better with Turok Origins, the first true new entry in the once-Nintendo 64 franchise since its 2008 reboot. Announced at last year's edition of The Game Awards, the franchise is making a comeback with Saber Interactive, the team that brought us Space Marines 2 last time around. In 2011.

Space Marine 3 captures a moment in time that left us long gone.

Its comeback could be as early as 2026 if recent reporting is to be believed.

2026 is stacking up more and more, and my wallet keeps crying with each passing day

As reported by MP1st, a sound designer at Saber Interactive who is currently working on Turok Origins has listed on his LinkedIn profile page that the game is “coming” in 2026. A more concrete window hasn't been listed, though it appears the Sabers are keeping their options open.

Nothing has been officially revealed yet, but take note, this year's edition of The Game Awards is taking place in just 11 days. In other words, if there was ever a good time to re-reveal a game with a release date, it's probably then. After all, the original revelation happened only at the same event.

Earlier this year, TheGamer's Jade King had a chance to preview the game, noting that it has a “killer aesthetic” and a solid soundtrack, but that it pushes for a co-op type of experience that deviates strongly from things like that.

“If this was pitched as a new single-player experience, rather than a by-the-numbers co-op shooter, part of me is convinced it could be something special,” read part of Z's preview. “But the sad truth is that everything about it is dry, predictable, and I want that to be representative of industry trends.”

Here's hoping that if the game is ready to come out next year, the final product is a little better than what we've seen. Then again, we dinosaur fans are used to disappointment.
