UN officials urge ‘maximum restraint’ on Lebanon-Israeli front

CAIRO: The UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon and the head of the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon called for maximum restraint on the Lebanese-Israeli border on Sunday morning, as tensions escalated after a deadly attack in the area. Twelve people, including children, were killed in a rocket attack on a soccer field in the Druze village of Golan Heights occupied by Israel on Saturday. Israel has blamed the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah and vowed retaliation, but Hezbollah has denied responsibility.
