London: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has praised the refugee Olympic team for its achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, where the team made history as the largest refugee contingent and won its first Olympic medal. Featuring 37 athletes competing in 12 sports, the ROT represented the aspirations of 120 million displaced people worldwide. Their participation has highlighted both the remarkable potential of refugees on the global stage, UNHCR said on Sunday.
