Achievements and trophies can add a lot of fun to the game as they give you fun little challenges to complete. However, they can also be too much work for those who consider themselves achievement or trophy hunters. After all, 100 percent game completion can be a real challenge in most cases.
What makes them more difficult, include missable achievements or trophies. These are the ones you only get limited opportunities to earn, which means you can easily lose them in a playthrough. They are usually annoying, but the following ones are especially anger inducing.
Party pooper
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Deep in Arkham Asylum, fireworks begin to signal the beginning of a party. This is the party the Joker has been building for the entire game, and you're the guest of honor. So, this is one of Joker's classic games that he likes to play with Batman. When you get to the party location, you'll encounter some thugs who won't attack you, which is very unusual in Arkham Asylum. They let you into the building, and inside, you'll find more non-hostile thugs. They all have party hats on and are giving you a round of applause.
You Had Me At Halo: The Best Puns in Video Game Achievements
These achievements punch above their weight class.
In this situation your natural instinct is to walk past and avoid unnecessary conflict. If you do that, though, you won't get the Party Pooper achievement or trophy. This is because you need to defeat all these enemies to get it. If you move on without doing so, you'll lose your chance and have to replay the entire game if you want an achievement or trophy.
working boy
Red Dead Redemption 2
Throughout Red Dead Redemption 2, you are part of an outlaw gang. In fact, you are one of the main and most respected members of the group. This is probably why people keep asking you to do things, including getting things for them. If you complete five of their item requests, you'll get the Errand Boy achievement or trophy.
Now that sounds a lot easier than it actually is. This is because these requests can be difficult to trigger. They only happen in specific chapters, and you have to camp to get them. Also, if you don't have a guide, you never know when they will trigger. You should expect to talk to someone at the right time. Also, even when you trigger requests, they won't be available to complete forever. If you go too far into the story, you'll lose your chance.
Card Collector
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Gwent is a beloved card game that you can play in The Witcher 3. However, you won't get much better at the game if you stick with your starter cards. Therefore, you should be looking for more to build your deck. The Card Collector achievement and trophy require you to get all the cards in the base game. You get most of them by buying or winning them from merchants. However, you also gain a lot by defeating other people you meet in the game and completing certain quests.
Some of these quests may auto-fail if you get too far into the story, and many Gwent players may become unavailable. There's even a Gwent tournament at one point that you need to win to get certain cards, but if you're out of the tournament, you can't try again. Since The Witcher 3 is a very long game, replaying a lot of it to get some cards is not a good experience.
Look, cat!
justice
In Justice, you play as a private detective, meaning you do a lot of research throughout the game. Generally, when you are researching something, you are put into search mode. This is where the game switches to first-person for a while, and you have to look around for clues. You can sometimes find random stray cats at these moments. Finding them all earns you Oh Look, Cat! achievement or trophy.
Most of them are very easy to miss, and you only get one chance at them. Once a mission is over, you can't go back to look for felines. To make matters worse, the achievement or trophy requires you to find all the cats in a single playthrough. So, if you miss one, your entire effort on an achievement or trophy is wasted.
the devil
Cyberpunk 2077
The Devil Achievement or Trophy in Cyberpunk 2077 revolves around unlocking one of the game's endings. You can only unlock it if Takemura survives. This makes it an easily missable achievement or trophy. Takemura is an antagonistic ally who helps you on your adventure. In a search and destroy quest, you will be attacked by two enemies, and the building you are inside will begin to collapse. You're separated from your friend, and the construction on your head with Keanu Reeves' face tells you that Takemura is almost certainly dead. On top of that, the game only gives the objective of leaving the building.
So, it's understandable if you believe that you can't save Takemura. However, if you leave without finding him, he dies, and you can't earn the Devil achievement or trophy in that playthrough. This is such an easy mistake to make, since the game seems to be telling you outright that you can't save Takemura. Yes, an important character like that wouldn't normally die in those situations, but it definitely feels like a situation where he's going to be captured, and you have to save him later. However, that is not the case. He just dies.
Vault-Tech CEO
Fallout 3
The main collectibles in Fallout 3 are bobbleheads, and the Vault-Tec CEO achievement or trophy will let you find all 20 of them. Since this is an open-world game, you think you can collect them all whenever you want.
Unfortunately, though, there are a lot of missables. For example, there are some bobbleheads in places you can destroy, making them inaccessible. Also, there's one in the vault where you start the game, and if you miss it the first time, you only get one more chance to get it. What makes this so frustrating is the fact that you expect collectibles in open-world games to be accessible the entire time.
World's Biggest Welch Fan
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
To get the World's Greatest Welch Fan achievement or trophy, you must craft every possible craftable item in Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Since there are 321 of them, making them all is a big ask. It's not the actual craft that's the main issue, though. Finding all the recipes you need to craft things is a real problem.
There are a bunch of them that you can only get at a certain time or in a certain area that you will never return to. Also, there is a certain party member that leaves during the game, and you have to get their recipes before they leave. If you miss even one recipe, you'll have to say goodbye to the World's Greatest Welch Fan achievement or trophy until you start a new playthrough.
