Who won the third great ninja war?

Naruto is one of the most popular shonen manga series worldwide and, beyond a compelling story, it also features a fantastic, well-constructed universe. The franchise's strongest point is that it doesn't take the existence of powerful warriors who manipulate chakra lightly: Naruto It is very serious in showing how human nature weaponizes these forces to create war.

In fact, the origins of ninjutsu are already chakra weapons, as Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki first aimed to distribute chakra as a way to create connections between people and thereby create a new, peaceful world. That ideology was the origin of Ninshu, the religion that would eventually be perverted by the creation of Ninjutsu by Hagoromo's eldest son, Indra Otsutsuki. But centuries after the “abuse” of Indra's cycle, nations will arise, and they will go to war to protect their geopolitical interests. These are known as the Great Shinobi Wars.

How many great ninja wars have there been?

in NarutoThere are five great shinobi countries, the five largest nations in the world, led by feudal lords (daimyō). They act like economic powers, but there are clearly very few countries Naruto than in our real world. Each nation, land of electricity, water, earth, fire and wind, naturally has its own history and background. Since Konohagakure, Naruto's village, is located in the Fire Nation, we know a little more about it than the others, but Kishimoto created a large world with vast socio-political knowledge.

As in the real world, these nations have often fought each other in wars. Although some conflicts might involve two of them, there were times when all or even five nations were drawn into the war. These are known as the Great Shinobi World Wars, or Great Ninja Wars, and there were four of them in the history of the series (or, at least, four recorded in-universe). Interestingly enough, Konoha was involved in all of them.

How did the third ninja war begin?

Like the previous wars, the Third Shinobi War was driven by competition for territory, resources, and power (as has been the case in many wars in the real world). After the second war, there was a shortage of resources, which reduced the power of villages and consequently nations. The conflict began at the border, but quickly escalated and spread between nations.

The series rarely explores this, even though the war begins only ten years before the main story begins. The main source of information is rational Kakashi History (Kakashi Gaiden), as the conflict escalated to such an extent that children, including Kakashi and his colleagues, were drawn into the war while training as genin, novice ninja.

The Third Great Ninja War lasted a few years, ending only a year or two before Naruto Uzumaki was born. Hiruzen Sarutobi led the village as the Third Hokage during the Second and Third World Wars, and despite Konoha's favorable outcome in the Third War, he decided to return to diplomacy to seek a truce and reconciliation with other nations.

So, technically, no one has won the war. All countries involved in the ceasefire have agreed. However, Konoha is generally considered the winner of the war because of its strong position and its dominant position. The results of the war played a significant role in the appointment of Minato Namikaze as the Fourth Hokage.

After the Third Shinobi World War

In Konoha, in addition to Minato becoming the new Hokage after the war, the entire team Minato drew attention to during the war and its surviving members were important in what came after. Unfortunately, Rin Nohra died during the battle after being forced to become the Three-Tails Jinchuuriki. On the other hand, Kakashi Hatake received the Sharingan from a seemingly dying Obito Uchiha and awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan after the death of his colleagues.

Also, while nations reached peace through diplomacy, it was a weak one. As usual after the war, economic and population decline became major problems. Given the number of deaths and other casualties, the war also made room for many “villainous” organizations. For example, it was because of this war that Nagato became the leader of Akatsuki. While Akatsuki existed for a while, Nagato was the one who reshaped the organization into the version seen during the main story.

Obito, as we know, did not die during the war, although Konoha mourned his death. He was saved by Madara Uchiha, and after Madara's death, he vowed to follow his ideals of creating a “good world” until he disguised himself as Tobi and started the Fourth Shinobi World War, which is a major event in the main story.

The Fall of the Uchiha Clan

Unfortunately, for the Uchiha clan, World War III was a major disaster. Fugaku Uchiha, who contributed greatly during the conflict, did not receive the recognition he deserved and was not even considered for the next Hokage. This led to conflict between the clan and the village authorities (even more conflict since there was always some conflict between the Uchihas and the authorities). Fugaku then began training his sons, Itachi and Sasuke, who showed great potential (especially Itachi).

Conflicts between clans and villages led Fugaku to plan a coup d'état. However, at the same time, Danzo Shimura was manipulating Itachi against the clan. After Shisui Uchiha's suicide, and believing it was the only way to save Sasuke, Itachi, posing as Madara, sought Obito's help and proceeded with the Uchiha massacre, killing all members of the clan except for his younger brother.

Will there be a fifth world war in Boruto?

For now, there is no clear evidence that the Fifth Shinobi World War could take place Boruto: Two-Blue VortexBut the story is building towards an escalating conflict, foreshadowing a major war. However, this war is unlikely to be between nations. Instead, it is more likely to involve a unified alliance of hidden villages to defeat the Shinju clones or the Otsutsuki clan.

Jura has already threatened several villages, leading to the belief that he will join forces to defeat them. However, with the introduction of Omnipotence, a shinjutsu technique that grants the user the power to rewrite reality (more accurately, it rewrites the perception of reality), an Ōtsutsuki can use this ability to spread conflict between villages and nations.

What's next in Boruto: The Two-Blue Vortex?

Boruto: Two-Blue VortexThe story's sequel introduces a terrifying new threat: the Shinju clones. They are born from divine trees (also known as god trees), but they are powerful, sentient beings. As far as we know, Jura's goal, the leader of the Shinju clones, is to consume all members of the Otsutsuki clan, and his first target is Boruto “Otsutsuki”, whom some call Boruto after Momoshiki changed people's memories of him with his work/karma and Ida/Eda's omnipotence.

Jura's real target is Naruto Uzumaki, as he believes that Naruto will quench his thirst for knowledge, but after Naruto disappears, he first wants to consume Boruto as Otsutsuki and Himawari are the Nine Tails' new jinchuriki.

The story also focuses on Kawaki's downfall and his hatred of Boruto, whom he believes Momoshiki will eventually control because of Kama, which is not a far-fetched theory. Finally, the new series also makes it clear that the true enemies, and possibly the ultimate villains, must be the story's Otsutsuki clan and their parasitic way of amassing power at the expense of everyone else's lives.
