6 Demon Slayer Characters Who Deserved a Good Ending

Then again, the complete mystery of Gyoko's death helped reinforce his delightfully exotic and incomprehensible nature.

For plot reasons, and to highlight Muzan's brutal nature, it made sense how the lower moons were killed by their own master in such a way. All the same, it would have been fun to see one or more of them lonesome somehow escape to find out what to do. Any of them, like Mukago, could get away with being rogues and either rethink a lot of things in their lives or vow revenge against a boss who decided they weren't worth keeping around. Before meeting her end, Mukago could also show the audience who she really was, before or after her dark transformation.

Shinobu Kochō never lived to avenge his sister's death

Shinobu Kocho's horrible ending is another example of a bad character ending that made sense narratively but still felt wrong in-universe. Not all revenge stories end well, and for many reasons, they actually often end badly or in strange ways. On the plus side, Shinjuro's personal arc had a solid conclusion regarding his grief and relationship with Tanjiro, which was enough for some fans. That said, it would have been great to see Shinjuro swap his sake bottle for the Nichirin Blade to show everyone what qualified him to be Flame Hashira in his spare time. He could have wrapped up his arc with the “one more war” trope to completely redeem him as a bitter alcoholic father.
