ZA's Mega Baxcalibur confirms a tragic pseudo-mythic trend

With the release of Pokemon Legends: ZAMany series fans were happy to get a game dedicated to Mega Evolution as a gimmick, seeing as how it's arguably the most beloved. Not only that, but the game also came with a plethora of new Mega Evolutions, so fans still have access to most of the old games from the Gen 6 games, and then a list of 26 new ones. Furthermore, Pokemon Legends: ZA’s DLC is adding 19 new Mega Evolutions, which the newest trailer originally confirmed due to the presence of both Chimecho and Baxcalibur, which were leaked at the base game’s launch.

Just the fact that Mega Boxcaliber exists Pokemon Legends: ZA This is great news for those who love the mighty Gen 9 pseudo-legendary, but it further cements a sad trend regarding one of the remaining pseudo-legends. This group of Pokemon is an exclusive club made up of 10 critters that have a BST of 600, and they're mostly nothing more than some great pocket monsters to use in their respective generations. These are:

  • Dragonite (Dragon/Flying, Gen 1)

  • Tyranitar (Rock/Dark, Gen 2)

  • Salamence (Dragon/Flying, Gen 3)

  • Metagross (Steel/Psychic, Gen 3)

  • Garchomp (Dragon/Ground, Gen 4)

  • Hydreigon (Dark/Dragon, Gen 5)

  • Goodra (Dragon, Gen 6)

  • Kommo-o (Dragon/Fighting, Gen 7)

  • Dragapult (Dragon/Ghost, Gen 8)

  • Boxcaliber (Dragon/Ice, Gen 9)

While all of these are the best Pokemon to use Pokemon Legends: ZA And like every mainline game, they aren't exactly born equal. Every pseudo-legendary in the series has gotten some love in their debut generation or future games, and as Mega Boxcaliber confirms, this isn't just true for Dragapult.

Pokemon Legends: ZA Officially Makes Dragapult The Worst Pseudo-Legendary Ever

Not only are pseudo-legendary Pokemon more powerful, but they're usually given extra tricks to garner fan reception or make them even better. So far, the list includes:

  • Dragonite: In Mega Evolution Pokemon Legends: ZA
  • Tyranitar: Mega Evolution in Gen 6, Paradox Pokemon (Iron Thorns) in Gen 9
  • salam: Mega Evolution in Gen 6, Paradox Pokemon (Roaring Moon) in Gen 9
  • Metagross: Mega Evolution in Gen 6
  • Garchomp: Mega Evolution in Gen 6, in 2nd Mega Evolution Pokemon Legends: ZADLC (based on leaks)
  • Hydrogen: Paradox Pokemon (Iron Jugulis) in Gen 9
  • Gudara: regionally Pokemon Legends: Arceus (Hisuyan Goodra)
  • Kommo-o: Z-Move in Gen 7 (Clangorous Soulblaze)
  • Dragapult: N/A
  • Baxcalibur: In Mega Evolution Pokemon Legends: ZADLC of

One could argue that the signature moves are also a gimmick, and while Dragapult gets Dragon Darts, other pseudo-legends also have signature moves: Meteor Mash for Metagross, Shelter for Hisuian Goodra, Clangorous Soul and Clanging Scales for Kommo-o, and Balaivexcalbursh for Balaivexcalbursh.

This stings even more considering that Garchump is getting a second Mega Evolution in Mega Dimension, while Dragapult reportedly isn't even in the game since Pokemon Returns. Pokemon Legends: ZADLC of. The silver lining is that Dragapult is the second most recent critter on the list, so it may still get some love in future releases.

The Leaked Pokemon Legends: Galar is Dragapult's best hope

in particular, Pokemon Legends: ZA Confirms the leak Pokemon Legends: Galar In many ways, or at least it teases the possibility. If that is the case, considering Galar is the home region of the Dragapult line, it would make perfect sense to get a regional form or a Gigantamax form. After all, Hisuian forms for many Pokemon Legends: Arceus The critters have been used to great effect in competitive games in Gen 9, and one could argue that there is more stability with regional form than there is with Mega Evolution.

Pokemon Go Players Frustrated by Drapey Spawn Rate

Interestingly, Pokémon Sword's Pokédex entry for Drapey states that it roamed the prehistoric seas when it was alive, and Pokémon Violet's Pokédex entry states that it has had a habit of biting Clancher since it was alive. Dragapult's dragon/water regional form in Pokemon Legends: Galer seems to be confirmed now.
