With so many fighting games flourishing in this current era, including recent revivals of things like Tekken, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, as well as Fatal Fury, if you're a Marvel vs. Capcom fan, then things can't get any worse.
Sure, we have Marvel Vs. We got Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, which finally brought MvC 2 to modern hardware, but as far as new stuff goes, there hasn't been much since Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite 2017, and most fans want to forget it ever existed.
That said, thanks to a fan project, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has gained several new roster members. Sure it's not a brand new game, but it has to be done.
EventHubs, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Community Edition, the fan-made project that kept the last true Marvel vs. Capcom title alive, is teaming up Darkstalkers' Dmitri Maximoff, Robbie Reyes AKA Ghost Rider, Professor X (Krakow Edition).
There's a whole 10-minute debut trailer, which is worth watching, especially if you want to see some of these characters in action. That said, if you want to go ahead and experience the characters for yourself, the fan project's Nexus Mods page has been updated with the latest files so you can expand your roster.
With the addition of those characters, the roster, as EventHubs notes, now has 73 fan-created characters. Yes, 73 characters straight from a group of fans to keep a great crossover fighter alive. In the past, Ultron, Leon, Venom, Carnage and Mega Man X have all been added to the game, making Community Edition the perfect way to experience MvC 3.
Hopefully, we won't have to wait that long for any piece of news related to a potential Marvel vs. Capcom 4. But if the game never comes out, or it's as mediocre as Infinite, then at least we'll have the UMvC 3 fan project to fall back on, and as long as Capcom and Marvel continue to cook it up it looks like there are new characters about any new characters content. Figuring out how they fit into Marvel vs. Capcom.
