Black Ops 7 adds green screen maps for content creators

As of today, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is officially out on all major consoles, which has had a rather strong year for shooter video games, what with the resurgence of Battlefield through Battlefield 6, the breakout hit with the new Doom and Borderlands 4. In other words, if you like pe2w “p2w”.

That said, while most of the games on that list have enjoyed an extended amount of fanfare, the same can't be said for Black Ops 7, as the game had a rather pedestrian launch, especially by Call of Duty standards. Now, if there was any reason for fans to have more problems with Black Ops 7, then it seems that Treyarch is putting a special emphasis on streamers and content creators.

Allow us to explain: Black Ops 7 is bundled with a “green screen” multiplayer map accessible through private matches that will allow content creators to capture the perfect picture for their thumbnails.

“This has been a goal for us since we added the green screen to the studio map in BO2,” the announcement was made on Twitter. It's a nice touch, but it made it into the launch version of the game, but not the way to pause the campaign, it's a bit of a head-scratcher.

Black Ops 7 doesn't seem to be sitting well with fans

The presence of a content creator-specific “green screen” map is unlikely to help shift the conversation surrounding Black Ops 7 in a more positive direction. If anything, it gives players a reason to keep stacking.

Aside from some mediocre launch numbers on Steam, the game already sits in a “mixed” position, with many gamers pointing to the campaign as the game's biggest issue. More specifically, the inability to pause the campaign and the rather stupid-looking story have angered fans.

That's not to mention the use of AI. Black Ops 7's Steam page has revealed the use of generative AI for asset creation, and fans are all over the obvious examples in the game, including some calling cards that look like they were ripped straight from Grok.

If there is one word to describe it all, it is this – yes.
