Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is running on a victory lap at the moment, celebrating its entire 12 different nominations at The Game Awards, as well as a huge collection of awards at the Golden Joysticks. Among those TGA nominations, Gustav actor Charlie Cox managed to hand himself in for Best Performance by Verso and Maelle actors Ben Starr and Jennifer English, respectively.
Considering the role of Gustav is Cox's only role in video games, he's a little more modest about the whole thing, and recently warmed the heart of every Clair Obscur fan on the planet by claiming that Gustav's motion-capture actor — Maxence Cazorla — probably deserves more nominations than he does. Cox also claimed that Gustav's performance in the game was “down to him” and that his voice was “just part of that process”. Very healthy stuff.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Thanks to fans and Charlie Cox for actor support
Obviously, Daredevil being nominated sent a lot of eyes towards Cazorla, who seems to have been bombarded with praise since Cox said he deserved a nomination more than he did. At least, that's what Cazorla himself seems to have suggested, as he recently took to Twitter to thank Claire Obscur fans for their love and support.
Charlie Cox says he's getting a console to play Claire: The Obscure Campaign 33 after high praise
He apparently hasn't played a game since Super Mario 64.
In his tweet, Cazorla said he was “truly grateful” for Cox's words which he thought were “incredibly generous”. He then keeps things nice and healthy by insisting that “bringing Gustav to life was a team effort” and “honored to play.” [his] Take part in it.” Parcel of praise It's a cute little pass, and I guess the team at Sandfall is pretty close to each other.
That being said, we certainly wouldn't have had such an incredible game without the work and talent of Cazorla, who not only did the mocap movement for Gustave, but for Verso and Renoir as well. He's also the voice of Esqui, so it's pretty clear he's a genius, and it's nice to see someone making sure Charlie Cox gets his flowers.
