Pokemon Go Piplup has confirmed that it will star in the game's first Community Day Classic event in 2026. Piplup will benefit from increased spawn and shine rates during the Community Day Classic event, with special Field Research missions also offering bonuses like Stardust, Great Balls, and additional Piplup encounters. Players who evolve their Piplup into Empoleon during the event will also receive a special move on their fully-evolved Pokémon, boasting Hydro Cannon as its charged attack. The January 2026 Community Day Classic event will be held on the first weekend of January, running from 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time on January 4th.
Piplup's increased spawn rates aren't the only benefit players get when they catch the Penguin starter Pokemon.
