Steam is the premier digital storefront for PC gamers, boasting the largest lineup of games from old-school classics to modern-day masterpieces. Steam's many quality-of-life features and consumer-friendly model have made it the go-to for most PC gamers.
Steam is almost always working fine, but there are rare occasions when there are some hiccups. Steam's latest issues cropped up on Christmas Eve, with the platform going down for a short period before coming back up, only to go down again. Right now, it looks like Steam is working for some gamers but not others, and it's unclear when the issues will be fully resolved.

Amid the ongoing generative AI controversies, the most wishlisted game on Steam seems to have been overlooked when it was published by an “AI-first” company.
Steam is down now?
When it comes to accessing Steam on December 24th, mileage may vary. At the time of this writing, it doesn't work 100% for me, but others are apparently able to access it without issue. Valve itself has not released a statement regarding the issues plaguing Steam today, but hopefully the issues will be resolved soon.
It's not clear what exactly is causing Steam's problems. It's possible that the influx of people using Steam over the holidays is causing the problems, or there could be something else at play. Anyway, we'll update this article once Steam services are fully restored for everyone.
