Although the adorable mouse Pokémon, Pikachu, remains the face of the Pokémon franchise, recent years have seen another Generation I Pokémon share the spotlight. That Pokemon is Eevee, the fan-favorite Normal-type currently in eight different evolutions, dubbed “Eeveelutions” by fans. Although Eevee remains an extremely popular Pokemon, many fans also love its evolved forms.
There is truly an Eeveelution for any trainer, from the docile Leafeon to the energetic Jolteon. As such, Eevee and its family members also often appear in the original Pokemon Anime. Each Pokemon is different in terms of power, and some Eeveelutions have more prominent screen time than others.

Charizard can be a difficult Pokemon to train, but these trainers did a great job.
Leafeon gains power through photosynthesis
Leafeon only fights when necessary
Introduced in Generation IV, Leafeon can initially only be obtained in the post-game. Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl Via Eevee Gift. When landed on a mysterious moss-covered cliff and flattened nearby, the player's Eevee will then evolve into Leafeon. After evolving, the Variant Pokémon is much calmer in personality. In fact, it's so gentle that Leafeon isn't one to fight most of the time.
Unlike other Eeveelutions, Leafeon does not hunt for prey; Instead, it collects energy by absorbing sunlight, just like a plant. In addition to serving as a food source, Leafeon is also able to use the sunlight it has gathered for powerful grass-type attacks, such as Solar Beam. Leafeon debuted through Zoey, a coordinator of Pokemon and a rival of Dawn. This particular Leafeon had several unique moves in its roster, such as Leaf Blade, yet it was able to combine Aerial Ace and Psywave to defeat Nando's Pokemon.
Flareon flames can exceed 3000 degrees Fahrenheit
A fleuron's fluffy fur helps regulate its body temperature
One of the earliest known Eeveelutions, the Flareon can be obtained if the player uses a Fire Stone on their Eevee. As it evolves, Flame Pokémon's fur becomes more fluffy, and is red and yellow as opposed to brown and cream. Flaren also develops a sac of flame within its body, which allows it to store air and heat it to temperatures above 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit. In battle, Flareon will use this air to create powerful fireballs.
Pokemon trainer Pyro, one of the Eevee brothers, uses a Flareon as his companion Pokemon. Pyro highly praises his Pokémon for helping him in battle, though Flareon's only known move is Fire Spin. However, many Pokémon coordinators in the anime are known to have their own powerful Flareons for competitions and battles. Examples of these include Savannah from the Hoen region and Ursula from the Sinno region.
Vaporeon is often found near sandy beaches
Vaporeon is invisible in bodies of water
Like its fellow Generation I Eeveelutions, Vaporeon evolves through the use of stones; In this case, a water stone. When Eevee evolves into Vaporeon, it becomes more fish-like, with wings and the ability to breathe underwater like many other water-type Pokemon. However, a key feature in Vaporeon's power is its ability to dissolve in water, making it invisible. This ability allows the Bubble Jet Pokémon to be an amazing underwater hunter.
Vaporeon is usually found near bodies of water, especially beaches, although it has been known to travel with trainers. The Bubble Jet Pokémon debuted alongside Rainer, one of the Eevee brothers. However, this has since been shown with many other trainers Pokemon the world A Vaporeon owned by Trainer Gallia had a particularly agile water type that helped Ash's Curfise become stronger.
Espeon is able to predict the actions of his opponent
Espeon is extremely loyal to its trainer
In Generation II, two new Eeveelutions, Espeon and Umbreon, debuted Pokemon the world Unlike the first three Eeveelutions, Espeon and Umbreon evolved through the strength of their friendship with their trainers over the course of the day. If an Eevee evolves during the day to its trainer's liking, it will become an Epeon. The Sun Pokémon's velvet-like fur allows it to sense its surroundings, a skill it has learned to protect its trainer.
Espeon's first and biggest appearance was through Sakura, a trainer who was also the younger brother of the famous Kimono sisters. It was thanks to the bond between Espeon and Sakura that the Kimono sisters allowed her to travel around the world; Since then, she traveled all over Kanto, not just Joho. A villainous Espeon also appeared Pokemon HeroesUnder the ownership of Team Rocket Trainer Annie. This has been shown using very powerful Psychic-type moves, both on humans and Pokémon.
Gleason can freeze the air around it
Gleason can turn his fur into frozen needles
Like Leafeon, a fellow Eeveelution that debuted in the Sinnoh region, Glaceon can initially only evolve by finding a mysterious rock; Since then, Eevee also reacts to leaf stones and ice stones. However, the original method of developing Glaceon was more difficult than Leafeon's method. Instead of finding Glacial Rock, a slab of stone made of glistening ice, in the woods, a trainer has to travel deep down Route 217, where Ice Rock can be found in the midst of a terrifying blizzard. Once Eevee evolves, it is not only immune to the surrounding hail, but thrives on it.
Gleason's two known abilities are Snow Cloak and Ice Body, which either increase his ability to avoid attacks or recover lost HP. The most famous Glacian in the anime belongs to May, a Pokémon coordinator and one of Ash's former travel partners. Originally seen as Eevee, the Fresh Blizzard Pokémon debuted its new powers against Team Rocket. It also battled Dawn's Piplup, and although it was defeated, it proved to be a worthy opponent for moves like Ice Shard and Secret Power.
Jolteon's fur generates powerful volts of static electricity
Zoltean is known to be a sensitive Pokemon
Jolteon is one of the three original Eeveelutions, and is considered the hardest to train, at least according to the Pokédex. Because the Lightning Pokémon is easily angered, it is often overpowered. This power can be difficult to control for Pokemon and Trainer alike, so anyone caring for a Zoltean should be patient. However, with proper training, Jolteon can be a wonderful and loyal travel companion. The Lightning Pokémon is easily distinguished by its spiky fur, which it can fire like a missile.
Aside from the Zolteon owned by Sparky and Ethan, several powerful Zolteons have been seen outside of the main one. Pokemon Anime. A prime example is the Jolteon used by Raid In Pokemon Originswho remained one of his main team members. This Zoltean had a strong sense of justice like its trainer, and fought bravely against Team Rocket after confronting Cubone. Meanwhile, Ma Pokemon EvolutionVarious Jolteons were seen as battle partners of Saito and even Trace.
Umbreon's power is stronger under the moon
Umbreon is a master at hunting in the dark
Like Espeon, Umbreon can only be obtained if an evolved Eevee truly trusts its trainer; However, that Eevee must evolve at night to become an Umbreon. As it evolved under the moonlight, the umbrane is most powerful when it is pitch black and close to the moon. During this event, the rings on the Umbreon's fur begin to glow, and it can see its prey even in complete darkness. When enraged, the Umbreon secretes a poisonous sweat, allowing it to use poison even if it is dark type.
Although Umbreon can certainly be more dangerous than its fellow Eeveelutions, the Moonlight Pokémon is often shown with heroic trainers. One such example is Gladion, a famous young trainer from Alola who escaped to save Aevee. Since then, Umbreon has been a loyal companion to his trainer, growing all the more powerful over time. Another example is with Gary's Umbreon, who, thanks to Gary's excellent training, was happy and even stronger.
Eevee can learn very powerful attacks on its own
Chloe's Eevee is based on the starter from Generation VII
Given how popular the Evolution Pokemon have become since debuting in Generation I, it's no surprise that Eevee is now considered a secondary mascot alongside Pikachu. However, while Pikachu can only evolve into Raichu, Eevee has several different evolutions that make it a great member of any team. As a normal-type, Eevee is capable of learning many moves before evolving, although some trainers choose not to evolve Eevee. One such example is with the Pokemon trainer Chloe, who has a female Eevee as a companion Pokemon.
Chloe's Eevee is based on the starter Eevee in Pokémon: Let's go, Eevee!A normal-type that never wants to evolve. In the case of Chloe's Eevee, she caused great confusion with researchers because she never evolved despite being exposed to various Evolution Stones. Chloe was able to figure out that Eevee was indecisive and nervous about evolution, and promised to be her friend no matter what path she took. Eevee proved to be an amazing fighter even without evolving, able to use powerful moves like Hydro Pump and Psychic through Copycat.
Sylveon is one of the most iconic fairy-type Pokemon
Sylveon is simultaneously charming and cunning
The roster's most recently debuted Eeveelution, Sylveon, arrived with the launch of Generation VI and the premiere of the Fairy-type. Although Fairy-type Pokémon are weak to Poison-type and Steel-type moves, they are strong against Dark-types, Fighting-types, and Dragon-types, which were only weak to their own type. Most interestingly, Fairy-type Pokémon, including Sylvain, are immune to Dragon-type moves. Sylveon is distinctive because of its ribbon-like fillers, which it uses to distract its prey before attacking with a soothing aura.
Aside from Valerie and Penny's own Pokemon, Ash's friend Serena, a Pokemon artist, is the most famous sylvan owned. Originally a dance-loving Eevee, Sylveon was able to evolve due to the encouragement of his trainer. She maintained this love of performing as she evolved to use her new appearance and powers to dazzle audiences. Although a fairy-type can be a bit timid, Sylvain nonetheless loves being in the spotlight and will use her tricks to save her friends while training to compete in the Pageant Spectacular.
