What items should you buy first at the souvenir shop in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

If you're desperate for a new way to decorate your spaces in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you won't be too excited about the hotel resort added in the January 2026 version 3.0 update and the dozens of new furniture that comes with it.

As you help gradually decorate Kapp'n's family resort on their island pier, you'll earn hotel tickets to use in the souvenir shop run by Grams in the lobby. She sells new pieces of clothing, trinkets and furniture, but which of her new hotel-themed pieces are worth using to get your tickets?

Cutlery

If you have ever ordered room service from a hotel or luxury resort, you know that apart from the food, it will come with a luxuriously lavish spread, plates with condiments, sauces, and plenty of cutlery, which is available as cutlery items from Gram's souvenir shop to any SPN setting at the resort hotel at ACNH.

Whether you're trying to create a dining-themed room at a resort hotel or finding new items to add to any dining room you've built elsewhere on the island, hungry guests will soon be feasting on the food recipes you've prepared and displayed long ago.

Marble kitchen island

If you're a fan of the fancy life and you've been trying to get one more taste of it from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, then the 3.0 update for the game offers a handful of extra luxuries, including five items made entirely of marble. And while the wall clock, table, vanity, and fireplace are all beautiful, it's the marble kitchen island that got us the most.

It has a sink and stove top with a pre-set kettle on one side, and a square and rounded edge on the other to give any kitchen and living area a fun shape. You can place stools on the far side and pop some food or drinks on top, and you have a beautiful kitchen!

If you're a vacationer who likes to travel a good amount, you've probably found yourself a souvenir of sorts that comes home every time you go somewhere. Things like keychains, magnets and shot glasses always make for fun tchotchke trinkets to bring back either for yourself or loved ones, but what's bigger than a mug from where you've been?

The Hotel Mug is the cheapest of all the items Gram sells in his souvenir shop, but it's a fun way to add a travel vibe to any creation. These cute, colorful little mugs can be placed in coffee shops, hotel rooms you design, diners, or cozy library creations to evoke an oh-so-cozy feeling.

Libraries have been one of the most popular styles of building since the first Animal Crossing game back in the GameCube days, and we've got plenty of fun furniture in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to help you design your dream library in your own home, for your island villagers, or as a fun feature in a special room in your hotel?

Depending on when you grew up, you probably recognize these iconic, adorable little cars that kids and toddlers sit in and use their legs to run and simulate car driving, with a plastic wheel inside and a ball to pretend to be the master of the road.

That same fun returns in the ACNH 3.0 update, which brings kiddie furniture to Grams' shop as you design a room with a kiddie theme. Go back outside and place it in the middle of your playground on an island to really drive home the nostalgic feeling on your island. You can even customize the colors to make it even more your pace!

You have many ways to decorate your island in Animal Crossing: new horizons with plants and flowers (even before factoring in the mammoth undertaking of trying to create every hybrid flower in the game for decorative purposes), but the Flower Planter is a beautiful new item that will spruce up your green spaces.

Available in many colors for both the vase and the flowers, you can customize the vase in a few ways to fit any hotel room where nature plays a role. Flowers can't be changed individually in a vase, but the options we've been given are always beautiful additions to hotel rooms.

Hotel Aloha Cardigans

We always get new clothing options when there's DLC, like when Happy Home Paradise launched a few years after ACNH's debut, there were a handful of new additions to your room. This brings you to another island that helps you build all kinds of houses for the villagers who come to your beach.

In the 3.0 update, however, the resort hotel comes with a few different patterns for clothing, blues for winter vibes and oranges for a summer feel. They're available as shirts or cardigans, but as the Northern Hemisphere winter kicks in, we love any new cozy options we can get for our villagers.

A rolling suitcase

It's not often you see people checking into a hotel without some kind of luggage, and a more iconic option for travelers is the rolling suitcase, an item added to the furniture list with the 3.0 update to ACNH. Talk to Gram and grab some hotel tickets to get an item that fits seamlessly into any kind of room theme you try to build.

Available in multiple colors, there won't be a theme Leilani can throw at you without room to add one of the rolling suitcase items. Interacting with it will make it more fun for you to change your clothes instead of raising and lowering the handle. We can change our outfits using a fridge, but not from an actual suitcase, Nintendo…?

Retro game consoles

If you're playing the 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you've got access to some extra abilities, including permission to use Slumber Islands to create extra islands on one console, or play retro games from the Switch's catalog of titles.

Once you Improve your reputation For hotels and islands, Grams will start stocking all kinds of rare items, and some of these consoles are fantastic. Place them in your home and you'll actually be able to use them to play certain retro games within ACNH! There are six titles available as of the start of the update.
