Arc Raiders can be more difficult for PvE players

Arc Raiders is the most popular multiplayer shooter at the moment. Even developer Embark never imagined that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6 could surpass the number of players. Although it is extremely popular, it is by no means an easy game. Whether it's thanks to Arcs or other raiders, you're sure to lose some great loot in a few of your runs.

I absolutely love the game, but I can admit that I find it a bit difficult at times. Even though I scored a stellar goal in terms of loot, a stray jump ruined it out of nowhere. While there are those who master taking down mechanical enemies, there are those like me who struggle with it. It seems that the devs are now considering increasing the difficulty.

Arc Raiders' Arcs may be buffed

In a chat with GamesRadar+, Arc Raiders design lead Virgil Watkins revealed that the community has become adept at handling Arcs, Queens and Matriarchs. While the game is in a great place right now, he notes that it needs to keep things challenging as a live service game. This includes increasing the difficulty of arcs.

“I think we're very happy with where they are now, but I don't think we can stay at it forever,” he said. “I think, if we introduce another giant spidery robot with six legs, it's kind of like, 'Okay, we get it.' So yeah, I think in the future we'll be looking at where we can take those kinds of experiences into something else or something more, looking at how we can enhance the experience for the player on the PvE side.

Arc Raiders Expeditions' most annoying feature will be reworked, says Dev

Future trips will be different.

Watkins noted that players have figured out how to tackle the current set of arcs, using a mix of items and tactics to take them down with ease. The things that once scared hunters are now no more than minor inconveniences; At least for most players. This is where the devs are looking to grow the game next. However, introducing more queens and matriarchs may affect performance.

“It's a challenge,” Watkins added. “We want to go where it's practical for us, or where it's fun, but you start running on the practical side of, is this going to crash the server? Can it even support these kinds of things? Our ambitions are definitely big, and I'm not going to say you're going to see it anytime soon, but obviously you're trying to walk in the background. To make some difference as we go forward.”
