The last few weeks have definitely been very disappointing for Shonen Jump. First, last month, it was revealed that Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, a hit sequel to the original. JJK series, Weekly Shonen Jump will have three back-to-back color covers. Fans were excited, but of course, there was an underlying concern that the series was coming to an end. In fact, that proved to be true when Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Chapter 25 became the series finale.
Fans were sad to see Modulo go, especially in such a hurry, but what's worse is that another iconic manga for Shonen Jump announced its end this week as well, and that's it. Chainsaw Man Part 2. Chainsaw Man isn't known for suddenly announcing its final chapters, so this definitely caught fans off guard. This was especially surprising since it didn't really feel like the manga was going to end yet. Anyway, this week will mark the end of Chainsaw Man Part 2.
How will this loss of two big franchises affect the magazine?
Shonen Jump has been losing one big series after another. With the likes of Modulo and Chainsaw Man ending, it sure looks like this magazine isn't what it used to be. On top of the conclusion of Modulo and Chainsaw Man Part 2, fans should also remember that less than two years ago, two other huge series that carried the magazine in the 2010s and 2020s also ended in Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia. At the moment, it can be said that the only major series Shonen Jump has under its belt is One Piece, which has been serialized continuously since 1997, and it now stands as the last pillar for Shonen Jump.
How Gege Akutami and Fujimoto could make a comeback in the future
While both Chainsaw Man Part 2 and Jujutsu Kaisen have ended back to back, that doesn't mean the two franchises are dead anymore. As far as JJK Modulo goes, the editor working on the series has released a statement asking fans to wait for the next project from Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki. In that sense, it definitely seems like a hint about a new Jujutsu Kaisen project, which is even more plausible because of how Modulo ended, with great potential for a new series that could be set 300 years in the future.

On the other hand, with Chains Man Part 2 coming to an end, there is a strong possibility that Fujimoto's manga will return for Part 3, simply based on the fact that the conclusion seems open-ended. It's unknown what Chainsaw Man Part 3 will cover, or if it's even happening. But, it's certainly a possibility, given how rushed Part 2 was with its ending. Fans can expect to see the return of these iconic series with new storylines and new characters.

While the endings of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo and Chainsaw Man Part 2 are unfortunate, that's not a bad thing for Shonen Jump. After the big series ends, it leaves room for new series to shine. Shonen Jump can see the rise of new hit series, and it's the perfect time for some new writers to come in and take the place of those who just left.
At the moment, the two most popular new-gen manga series seem to be Kagurabachi and Ichi the Witch. With a few older and established series around, many fans may be interested in trying out these new manga.
