How to get to Cinnabar Island in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreenTrainers can travel to Cinnabar Island as soon as they unlock the ability to use HM03 Surf outside of battle. To get there, coaches can either travel in a straight line south to Pallet Town or surf south to Fuchsia City to reach Route 19, Route 20, and Cinnabar Island.

How to get to Cinnabar Island Pokemon Fired and Leafgreen

There are two ways to reach Cinnabar Island Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen:

Pallet Town → Route 21 → Cinnabar Island
Fuchsia City → Route 19 → Route 20 (East) → Seafoam Islands → Route 20 (West) → Cinnabar Island

Both of these routes to Cinnabar Island require the use of the HM03 Surf, which can be found in the Safari Zone. Trainers are only usable outside of Surf Battle after defeating Koga in the Fuchsia Gym and claiming the Soul Badge.

Pallet Town Route

Use the HM02 fly to go to Pallet Town.
Use HM03 Surf on the waterway south of town to start surfing.
Swim south in a straight line along Route 21 until you reach Cinnabar Island, landing just behind the Pokemon mansion.

Fuchsia City Road

Head south from the Fuchsia City Pokémon Center to the start of Route 19.
Use HM03 Surf and swim south in a straight line until the path turns left.
Go west via Route 20 (East) until you finally reach the eastern entrance to the Seafoam Islands.
Explore the cave and you will eventually be able to come to the other side through the western exit of the Seafoam Islands.
Surf west in a straight line through Route 20 (west), and you'll be able to make landfall on Cinnabar Island, right next to the gym.

Everything to do on Cinnabar Island in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

Despite its small size, Cinnabar Island has plenty to do.

Pokemon mansion: Explore the large building next to the Cinnabar Gym to find useful items like TM14 Blizzard, TM22 Solar Beam, Rare Candy, Moon Stone, and the Secret Key.
Cinnabar Jim: Use the Secret Key (found in the Pokemon Mansion) to open the door to the Cinnabar Gym and fight Blaine. Defeating Blaine opens access to the Savvy Isles.
Pokemon Lab: In Pokemon Lab, you can trade Raichu for an Electrode, Venonat for a Tangela, and Ponyta for a Seal. Move Tutor can teach Pokemon the move Metronome. The scientist in the last room has the ability to revive the fossils to transform them into Omanite, Kabuto and Aerodactyl respectively, Helix Fossil, Dome Fossil and Old Amber.
