Despite the total amount of unpaid wages at Rockstar North falling within the normal wage anomalies detected by HM Revenue and Customs in its annual reports, the studio's already troubled position has drawn more scrutiny than usual. On top of the legal issues, a fire broke out at Rockstar North on January 19, 2026, although no employees were injured, and the company has insisted that the incident will not affect the team's ability to continue development.
