Now that the Super Mario Galaxy movie has been released in theaters, you're probably asking yourself two questions. First, is there another iconic musical number from Bowser that I can't get out of my head for months? And two, which bathroom products can beat him in battle?
The second question was definitely the first thing on my mind, and thankfully, the Mario Galaxy movie currently has a collaborative collection with handmade cosmetics company Lush, so fans can reminisce about their favorite moments from the movie and even treat themselves to some self-care.
I had the privilege of checking out the collection myself, and I was intrigued to discover that, unlike Lush's collaboration with the first Super Mario Bros. movie, this collection doesn't just feature products themed around any of the Mushroom Kingdom's heroes and villains.
Luma Bubble Bar
If you're a Mario Galaxy fan in any capacity, then odds are you're just as obsessed with these little guys as everyone else. They're small, adorable, and, according to the movies, a little unhinged.
The magic of Lumas is hard to capture, but the Luma Bubble Bar comes pretty close. On the outside, the Luma Bubble Bar looks like a classic smiling yellow Luma, but on the inside, you'll smell the tiny stars twinkling and bubbles swirling around you as they prepare for your bath.
But can this Luma Bubble Bar beat Bowser? Well, no. While adorable and whimsical, Bubble Bar, like the real Luma, is no match for Bowser's intensity. But it's a good way to relax after watching Mario and his friends do it in the Super Mario Galaxy movie.
Princess Peach Crown Soap
When you think of bar soap, you probably think of smooth little bars perfect for gliding across your skin, not pointy tiaras. Thankfully, Princess Peach Crown Soap isn't as harsh as the real thing and leaves your skin with a lingering strawberry scent as you go about your day.
I wondered why it wasn't a peach scent instead of strawberry, but then it was presumptuous of me to assume that since it was named after her, peaches smelled like peaches. I mean, you probably don't smell like your name.
As for whether Princess Peach Crown soap can beat Bowser, it's complicated. If there's anything Bowser has a weakness for, it's Princess Peach. That said, the one thing Bowser has always had in his heart regarding her is taking Peach away from her castle, so I think he'd be ready to get rid of any ties to the Mushroom Kingdom. And does turning him into a bosset defeat him?
Lumas Shower Jelly
What's better than a luma? Tons of lumas. While the Luma Bubble Bar is a great way to relax and elevate the traditional bubble bath, the Lumas Shower Jelly is probably one of the most appealing things I've ever seen.
If you're unfamiliar with shower jellies, as a kind Lush employee named Nick explained to me, as I was before, they're essentially a little squishy cylinder that you rub over your body like a bar of soap. My mind was blown by the idea of using something akin to a cup of Jell-O to shower, and it's an experience everyone needs to have for themselves.
Lumas Shower Jelly, in particular, is fruity-scented and contains lots of tiny Lumas soaps. Now, did I have to fight the urge to open it up and get all the lumas out? yes Do I think this is one of the most fun and whimsical bath items I've ever used? yes too
But can Lumas shower jelly take on Bowser? Probably not. I'd like to believe that even Super Mario's biggest badass wouldn't be able to resist being charmed by this adorable little wiggly wonder, but, at the end of the day, he could easily fend off this little jelly, Luma shower gummies and all.
Save Mario, Luigi, and the Galaxy Shower Gels
If, like me, you've ever imagined that Mario and Luigi probably smell like the sewers they often travel through, then you're probably scared to find out what Mario and Luigi Shower Gel smells like. Thankfully, I can confirm that it's nothing plumbing-related.
That being said, I can't say I would have guessed what the actual scents were. Both shower gels match their respective character's vibrant colors, Mario's being red and Luigi's being green, but Mario's smells more reminiscent of Coca-Cola, while Luigi's is closer to green apple candy.
Both are incredibly sweet smelling, which only complements the third shower gel in the collection, Protect the Galaxy. This dark purple, shimmery, cosmic-looking shower gel smells like what I can only describe as sour slimy wormwood, but it's actually a mix of apple and blueberry. It's like you fall into the candy rack at the movies.
Can this shower gel beat Bowser? Of course! Mario and Luigi are an iconic couple who never let anyone or anything stand in their way. Anything inspired by the Bane of his existence is guaranteed to strike fear into Bowser's heart, whether it's a themed shower gel or the brothers themselves.
Princess Power Body Balm, Princess Rosalina Lip Scrub, and Princess Peach Lip Jelly
A Mario Galaxy collection would not be complete without giving due attention to the iconic ladies of this story, Princess Peach and Princess Rosalina. In addition to Peach Crown Soap, other royalty-focused items you can find in this collection include Princess Power Body Balm, Princess Rosalina Lip Scrub, and Princess Peach Lip Jelly.
While these two princesses are phenomenal enough on their own, like the Lush Lip products they inspired, they're even better together. Between Princess Rosalina Lip Scrub and Princess Peach Lip Jelly, your lips will be hydrated and shiny like royalty.
Speaking of the power of Peaches and Roslina together, you can't forget about the Princess Power Body Balm. In addition to your lips, you can give your entire body the Edward Cullen treatment with this body balm that shines under the sun.
As for whether these items in the collection can take on Bowser, do I even need to say this? Anything designed with these two in mind is a no-brainer. Princess Peach and Princess Rosalina have everyone, characters and fans alike, in a chokehold, and Bowser is no exception. It will end before it begins.
Princess Rosalina Body Spray
Of course, while Rosalina excels with the iconic Princess Peach, she deserves her own moment to shine as she's one of the most expensive pieces in the collection, it would be nice to see a Princess Rosalina body spray in packaging that felt a little more representative of Rosalina herself, but at the end of the day, it's all about the interior.
I'm very sensitive to strong smells and often shy away from strong perfumes for that reason, but this body spray just might be the perfect middle ground. There is a noticeable scent, as you'd expect, but it's subtle and smells almost more like a massage oil than a traditional body mist. It makes you feel like you just went to a relaxing spa and not like you're suffocated by a perfume cloud.
As for whether this product can beat Bowser, again, Princess Power wins. I could imagine Bowser floating down the scent trail like an old cartoon character catching a whiff of a freshly baked pie.
Yoshi Egg Bath Bomb
Last, but certainly not least, is the Yoshi Egg Bath Bomb. This is clearly not to be taken away from the fact that the collection is meant to be the focus product. For one thing, it's huge. Imagine the biggest bath bomb you've ever used, and I promise it's still not that big at about 12 ounces.
Once dropped into the water and activated, this shower bomb reveals one of four unique power-ups hidden inside as a shower gummy. The water will turn a unique color depending on the power-up inside your egg, which can include blue ice flowers, red fire flowers, green mushrooms, or gold coins.
You can chuck this thing at Bowser, and he'll drop like a sack of potatoes, but why waste him? Throw that Yoshi Egg Bath Bomb into your bath, grab your Nintendo Switch, pop in your favorite Mario game, and treat yourself to Bowser in the sudsy, powered-up comfort of your Lush x Super Mario Galaxy Movie-themed bath.
The Lush x Super Mario Galaxy Movie collection will be hitting shelves mid-April 2026, so don't waste any time if you've got your eye on something!
