Pokemon fans share Avian Diglett and Dogtrio
abundant Pokemon Fan artist Matratzfratz has shared his thoughts on what an avian diglet and its evolution, the Dugtrio, might look like. As the name implies, the avian diglet is a flight-type, and has shifted from its regular appearance to what appears to be a single-egg nest. The artist shared a fun Pokédex entry for the Pokemon, saying that Diglett only occasionally appears at Pokemon daycares, or when a Bunry is around, a nod to Pokemon daycare eggs and Easter egg-hunting traditions. However, things get particularly interesting with its evolution, Dugtrio, which has a design twist based on real zoology.
Avian dugtrio, which is written with a question mark in the presence of four creatures, looks like a trio of diglets with a large egg-like ditto behind them. While Ditto is popular now Pokemon PokopiaThis particular ditto has an awesome reason for being there. The design is based on real-world brood parasites, like cuckoos, that lay their own eggs in the nests of other types of birds that are raised by them. It's not an entirely peaceful existence, however, as brood parasites actually outgrow the chicks that fall into the host nest. With that in mind, a worried expression on Diglett's development makes sense, with the “mysterious fourth sibling” apparently seeing all of his “siblings” as eggs to crack.
While the artist hasn't drawn any additional looks for this creation, they have shared some additional ideas. This particular Pokémon's Mega Evolution, they say, will be the fourth-unique sibling all to itself, except that it will now be a “good feeder,” either because it has eaten all the food intended for its siblings or perhaps even eaten them themselves. Pokemon Fans seem delighted by the creativity of the design and the thought that went into it, even if it is based on a morbid real-world incident.

While turning Diglett into an egg fit the design of the Pokémon better, the original series went in a different direction when creatively redesigning the Pokémon and its evolutionary tree. The regional form, Alolan Dugtrio, has long blonde hair and is inspired by the volcanic activity common in the region. Meanwhile, wiglet and wugtrio, converging species, look very similar to diglet and dogtrio, but are based on creatures such as the garden eel. It will be interesting to see what other real-world species can be combined with Diglett and Dugtrio to create more regional variants and convergent species.
