You may recall that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's Collector's Edition left a lot to be desired last year. Especially inside its terrarium is a strange looking snake sculpture. Konami wanted $200 for it, and it seems a lot of people weren't willing to pay that, because the CE is still not in stock after eight months, but it's heavily discounted, probably in an attempt to get rid of them.
You no longer have to pay $200 for MGS Delta's weird snake figure
With an MSRP of $199.99, even the most die-hard Metal Gear fans scoffed at the idea of picking one of these up when the remake was released last summer. Especially if they were waiting to see some unboxings. While the product may look good on screen, the real thing falls short of the mark.
The snake figure inside was so bad that CE benefited from the laughs instead of really pissing off fans, though I'm sure someone who dropped $200 on this thing last year falls into that latter category. The figure doesn't look like a snake, and when you get under him and get a good look at his face, you can see that he's cross-eyed for some reason.
Terrarium foliage is also much less dense than promotional images would make it out to be. Not ideal for a character who relies on stealth.
Since very few people are willing to cough up for Snake Eater's CE at launch, You can pick one up now at Woot for $79.99. Already 60 percent off, you can actually get it for even less. Enter code GAMER20 at checkout, And it will knock a bit more off the final price, Bringing it down to $63.99. Plus, if you have Prime, you get free shipping because Woot is owned by Amazon.
The collector's edition is worth it, even without the snake terrarium
After all, I made the first few paragraphs of this article for the Collector's Edition buff, you might be wondering why I expect you to pay anything for it, whether it's $64, $200, or anything in between. Well, it's not just a statue you're getting. It also comes with a copy of the game — which isn't a given that CE has it these days — along with everything that comes with the Digital Deluxe Edition, which is still $79.99 when purchased all by itself.
You'll also get a replica of Naked Snake's in-game patch, along with other collectibles you won't find anywhere else, and your physical copy of the game comes in a retro metal game case. Even if you immediately tossed the snake statue in the bin when it arrived, everything else makes this heavily discounted CE worth it for any Metal Gear fan. I recommend keeping that terrarium on hold, though. Fill it with your own plants, and maybe the guests won't be able to tell how strange the hidden snake looks. Ideally, put enough greenery that they won't be able to see him.
