Jez Corden is a household name at this point. At least, if your family includes at least one gaming enthusiast who keeps remotely up-to-date with industry news. He clearly has contacts in high places, so when he lays out expectations for upcoming game announcements and release dates, it's usually worth tuning in.
Today, Corden claimed—note, this is an informed prediction rather than a straight-up announcement—that we could see at least one Fallout remaster in 2027. Furthermore, to no one's surprise, the Elder Scrolls are still years away. But how many years? At this point, you might be pleasantly His thoughts on that score were shocking.
I can obviously imagine worse
Around the two-hour mark on the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast, co-hosts Rand al Thor 19 (probably not the real Rand al'Thor, sadly) and Jez Corden talk about the state of things coming up at Bethesda Game Studios. This is where Corden says he's heard some things — with the disclaimer that he's not sure how much is true.
“I heard that, I don't know how true it is, but that's what I heard [the] Fallout remasters are probably a bit further away than people think and Elder Scrolls 6 is still a long way off. I think getting some of those games out early is top of mind for them.
Taken on its own, it's half-guess work, half-choke, because Corden can't be sure if what he's whispering is right here. However, after a moment things got a little more interesting.
Rand noted that he wasn't expecting any rumored Fallout remakes until next year “at the earliest.” Corden pins down some probability-based dates in his answer, as well as The Elder Scrolls 6.
“Yeah, that's what I'm thinking: 2027 maybe for a Fallout remake, at least one of them, and then maybe a year after that or the year after that. [Elder Scrolls 6].”
A Fallout 3 remake in 2027 sounds like a lot of fun to me. The big bomb drop, of course, is TES 6. If Corden's calculations prove correct here, then a 2028-29 release date for the first mainline entry since 2011's Skyrim? At this point, I have to admit, that's not really sound that Now worse. Two to three years away I had dared to hope. The internet is as rife with some disappointed-fan expectations as 2031, so I'll take what I can get.
