PlayStation Fans have something exciting to look forward to, with Sony recently confirming that the next State of Play showcase will take place soon. PlayStation State of Play events offer updates on anticipated games, but they also often have great surprises in store. Not every State of Play showcase reveals a surprise, but the recent rumor mill has us hoping the company has a few secrets up its sleeve.
There's no way to know for sure which games will be present at the next Sony State of Play, but there are some major titles that are expected. Aside from the more obvious contenders, there are rumored projects and hoped-for remakes that have gamers buzzing about what summer announcements might be on the horizon. Summer has traditionally been one of the key seasons for revelations, and this upcoming game will hopefully continue that trend. The showcase airs June 2 at 2 pm PT/ 5 pm ET.
These games seem to be a given as they are in Sony's June state of play
- Marvel's Wolverine (confirmation)
- Marvel Token: Fighting Souls
- Marathon Season 2
- Banana: Stain of Kosmora
- Horizon Hunter Gathering
These five titles feel like potential contenders in the state of play. Marvel's Wolverine It's one of the biggest Sony exclusive releases planned for the year, and developer Insomniac has been confirmed to feature even more. Earlier this year, Insomniac finally confirmed it Marvel's Wolverine Release date, and eager players will get a deep dive into the gameplay. 2026 actually brings a double dose of Marvel, just in different genres. who are more involved in the fighting genre Marvel Token: Fighting Souls to wait. With the stylish fighting title scheduled for an August 6 release, it wouldn't be surprising to see more from the game.

This is the main reason Marathon The game's second season goes live on June 2, the same day as the game's Kingdom. Marathon Season 2 is a big moment for Extraction Shooter. Bungie's long-awaited game hasn't garnered nearly as much attention as last year's breakout shooter hit. ARC RaidersBut this next chapter will hopefully open the door for more players.
Weeks of rumors can finally be put to rest with these games
- god of warspin-off of Faye
- infamous Remake
-
From Software's Pirate Games
Rumors about another god of war The game has been around for years now, but this year brought a few new ones that claim the next game will actually be led by Fei. Rumors claim that Tire will also play a role in the story, and that other mythologies such as the Japanese and Mesoamerican pantheons may be featured. These are really bold statements that don't have much evidence behind them, but it would be great if the Santa Monica studio proves them to be true in the state of play.
Two other recent rumors have piqued the interest of many gamers. Claims that a infamous A remake is in the works and a secret FromSoftware pirate game could be on the way has been really compelling. FromSoftware currently has its Nintendo exclusive Duskbloods line up, but the rumored pirate game being a Sony exclusive wouldn't be too surprising. Demon spirits and blood borne Sony had exclusives, so FromSoftware could easily make a similar deal with a pirated game. That is, if the pirate game even exists.
These games may be pipe dreams taking place in June's game situation, but nothing is impossible
- Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet
- Unknown 5
- blood borne Remake
- Silent Hill 1 Remake
If any of these are present in a match play situation, this is more likely to happen Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet. The only reason to be a little skeptical is that actor Kumail Nanjiani said in an interview recently Intergalactic: Heretic ProphetThe release date will not be until 2028 or later. He plays Colin Graves in the game, and while that doesn't mean he has much intel on the release plans, it's possible he knows at least a general timeline. If the game doesn't come out until 2028, this early second trailer reveal could be a long way from things. It's still entirely possible that Nanjiani is wrong, and Naughty Dog may actually be looking at a 2027 projection. It will make a new trailer at State of Play, but only time will tell.
Speaking of Naughty Dog, there are also rumors that the developer is working on it Unknown 5. Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming also went so far as to claim that Naughty Dog is in development Unknown 5 Before the COVID-19 pandemic. If the studio has been working on the project for that long, it could theoretically be revealed in the showcase. However, fans should keep their expectations low.
A look at the upcoming Bloober team Silent Hill 1 A remake or a blood borne A remake announcement would be great too. The latter has been requested for a long time, but it seems unlikely that it will ever happen. Pitch for A blood borne A remake by Bluepoint was also reportedly rejected by FromSoftware, so it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. A Silent Hill 1 A remake teaser is very possible, though.
Xbox may have a small presence at this Sony-focused event
With Xbox's new leadership, past plans to remove exclusive Xbox games look like they've been backpedaled. However, there are a few titles that were confirmed for PS5 ports before Asha Sharma took over. Like games fable and Hello: Campaign Evolved Two of the biggest Xbox franchises are planning their PlayStation debut. There is also one Forza Horizon 6 PS5 port on the way. The racing game left the PS5 at launch, but a port release date could be mentioned.
Xbox has its own showcase June 7.
No answer has been given Gears of War: E-Day Coming to PS5 or not. The franchise came to Sony consoles for the first time since last year Gears of War: Reloadedhave expectations for Gears of War: E-Day on PS5. As Xbox rethinks its strategy, the PS5 version may not be finished.
