How To Get A Job In Paralives

If you want your Paras to live it up large in Paralives, they’re going to need the cash to fund their lifestyle, and that means getting a job. There is a range of careers available in Paralives, but whether your Para is eligible for them depends on Application points.

Once your Para has a job, they can then excel in that career, ranking up to earn more money and spending upgrade points to improve their performance or other perks. Here’s everything you need to know.

Paralives is currently in Early Access, and so the content is subject to change. We’ll update this guide as needed in the future.

How To Get A Job

Using a phone to look for a job in Paralives.

You can find your Para a job by clicking on them, choosing ‘Use Phone…’ and then ‘Find a job’. You can also look via a computer or by finding job posters around town.

How Application Points Work

Other than Rank One jobs that require no Application Points, the required Application Points will be the same level as the rank of the job.

Applcation points in Paralives.

You need to have enough Application Points to meet the rank of the job listed. These can come from the skills you have levelled, previous work experience, or even Para stats or their Vibes.

You can see how many points you have and how many you need for a specific job by hovering over the listing.

You can get Internal Application Bonuses of three points by applying for a job that is with the same employer you are already hired with. If your Para is a Jester, they can also have a random effect of five additional Application Points at times.

Job List

Job listings update every in-game day to provide jobs of different ranks, pay, and Application Point requirements. Some roles will appear in more than one category, for example, if they are for a specific field but also fall under a Management role.

We’ve listed the jobs we’ve seen so far, and we’ll update with others as we find them, but these will at least give you an idea as to the pay and which skills, stats, and experience you’ll need to earn enough Application Points.

How To Quit Your Job

You can go into the Occupations tab and at the bottom select ‘Quit Job’. You can also just use your phone to search for a new job, even when you have one.

You can change your work schedule at the bottom of the tab, too.

What Do Strikes Do?

Strikes on the job menu in Paralives while the Para looks unhappy.

You will get a strike at work if your performance is bad, and getting three strikes will result in your Para being fired.

How To Get Rid Of Work Strikes

Strikes expire after 14 days, so you mainly need to be careful not to get three within a two-week period. However, you can also get rid of Work Strikes by utilising Story Cards, as there is a Moon Book card that removes a strike for you.

You can also change the job performance threshold for strikes in the Storyteller Settings so that your job is more forgiving.

How To Get And Use Upgrade Points

Using an Upgrade Point in Paralives.

After your Para finishes work, they’ll earn their pay and potentially be given an Upgrade Point. The chance of getting an Upgrade Point is affected by the percentage value on the job performance meter in the Occupations tab. The better your job performance, the better chance of getting an Upgrade Point.

Once you have an Upgrade Point, you can then use it to increase your Job Rank so you get paid more or to unlock a new Job Perk.

You can only equip three Perks at a time, so you may need to remove one before you can unlock a new one.

How To Improve Job Performance

Your job performance is affected by your Para’s traits, such as their Vibe, as well as their current emotions and the skills required for that job.

If you want to improve your job performance, you should stay on top of your Para’s needs so they go to work happy, and get them to increase their required work skills by reading books or performing actions that level them up.
