We all know that Marvel loves crossovers these days, and if you didn't know, I only have to point to Avengers Doomsday coming later this year to prove me right. It seems like you can't find a Marvel product these days without a different Marvel property sticking its nose in for a quick cameo to please comic book nerds, but games have been the exception.
Marvel's Spider-Man and subsequent sequels kept things rooted in the Spider-Man universe, though Insomniac couldn't resist sticking up for Avengers Tower in the middle of New York City. Yes, I know it's true to Marvel's world, but it was still a little creepy to me. However, Marvel's Spider-Man had Spider-Man heroes fighting Spider-Man villains, so I was happy.
Don't expect Spider-Man to show up in Marvel's Wolverine
However, now that Insomniac has moved on to another Marvel hero, being Wolverine, the developer now has two high-profile superheroes in the bag that share the same universe. If this were any other Marvel product, we'd see Spider-Man take a swing at Marvel's Wolverine at some point, make a funny joke, and then take a swing, but Insomniac wants you to know that's not going to happen.
In an interview with IGN this month following the game's most recent gameplay showcase in a slightly chilly situation, creative director Marcus Smith and game director Mike Daly were questioned about the game, and whether Marvel's Wolverine would have any mention of Marvel's Spider-Man, seeing as it's been confirmed that the two characters share the same character.

Bad news for those who want the original Insomniac games, as Marvel says their collaboration will continue for “many years to come.”
Ratchet and Clank have been sitting on the bench for a while, I think.
“It's true that it takes place in the 1048 Marvel universe, which is the Insomniac video game universe,” Daly explains. “It takes place in the same world, but we have no crossover. Spider-Man will not appear in Wolverine.”
This makes a lot of sense, as both games take place in different locations around the world, and Peter Parker and Miles Morales seem a little more concerned about stopping the Venom plagues and the return of the Sinister Six. It's also unlikely that Spider-Man would feature in such a blood-soaked game, as killing and maiming is not in Spider-Man's wheelhouse.
