God of War Faye, Explained: Who is Faye?
God of War Laufey is set to follow Kratos' second wife, Faye, and her journey to Everywhere. Here's what you need to know about her character.
Faye's deadly fight with Thor
Faye fights Thor and destroys a part of Vanaheim, displaying her secret rage
Vanaheim is a beautiful area, but it hides a dark secret. North of Vanaheim lies the Crater, a memorial site for a village lost to a drunken Thor and angry Fae, as it was the site where the Aesir and Jotnar clashed with Mjolnir and the Leviathan Axe.
No one lives to remember their story but the ghosts who have yet to move on, there is still a bolt of lightning frozen in the center of the crater. This is one of the many secrets that Faye has been keeping, and it turns out that she has her husband's nature, as the destruction in Vanaheim and the innocent lives lost here can be related by Kratos in his story of revenge.
The Fae's prophetic abilities weaved a tale of the end of the Aesir gods
Faye's secret hand guided Kratos and Atreus through their story
Fay's other great secret was that she had incredible powers of prediction and foresight, thanks to the fact that she was a Jotner from Jotunheim. With said prophecy, it meant that she knew exactly which path Kratos and Atreus were on, and would take in his death.
the events of god of war (2018) and God of War Ragnarok Unbeknownst to Cratos and Atreus, Faye is directly woven. Everything happened by design, from the special trees cut down to destroy the protective staves, the ashes spread over Jotunheim to reveal his true nature, and the death of the Aesir like Odin.
Faye's prophecy comes true, and Kratos and Atreus didn't know about it, or else they could have failed to make it come true had they known what they should have done. As such, there is much more to Faye's story than she lets on.
Faye and Kratos almost killed each other when they met
Kratos remembers Faye's fighting ability as “beautiful”.
Love at first sight is a beautiful thing, but when it comes to Kratos and Faye, it's love at first fight. Faye and Kratos fight against Leviathan X when they first meet, with the Blades of Chaos clashing. However, their fight was a stalemate and only ended when they both proved that they wanted more than this senseless violence.
The Kraots and Faye prove that they are more than just bloody instruments of revenge and rage, and instead decide to build a life together and share in each other's secrets and sorrows. Kratos reminisces about how Faye fought, describing her performance in battle as “beautiful”, which is why she has always been a cunning fighter.

Each god confirmed to be in Laufey's God of War
There are many gods expected to appear and clash with the Fae in God of War Laufey, and here's everyone on the roster so far.
Faye may be the mother of all monsters
The Fey's bloodline may go back to Ymir, the original Jotun
Captain Kuba and Morse_dacode have a very interesting theory about the Fae in YouTube's “The Biggest Secret Laufey Hide from Kratos” (click the link to see it for yourself!) Kuba and Morse detail a prophecy in God of War (2018) that depicts Bergelmir and Null bringing a new generation of Odin.
What's interesting is the fact that Faye's other secret Jotunn name is not only Laufey, but also Nal. This could mean that Faye is much older than we thought, and her importance in Jotunheim is more than a giant in exile forced to live in Midgard. This could also explain why she's in Everybody, as she holds a big secret as a descendant of Ymir.
Faye is the reason the giant disappeared
Jotnar has a special relationship with the Guardians and Tyr of the Golden Hand
Faye is known as the Jotun “The Guardian” and the “Golden Hand of the Jotnar”, not only for her incredible abilities with magic, but how she will one day bring the monsters back to safety (aided in the prophecy by Kratos and Atreus). The Fey mastered the ability to take souls and place them in objects, which became the perfect tool to hide the surviving Jotun from Odin.
This ability was learned by Faye's son, Atreus/Loki, and can be used to help find the remaining giants and bring them back to the Nine Realms. It's a secret ability that Fey took to her grave, but it's of great importance, and shows how she's managed to avoid Odin's wrath for decades with Tyr's help.
The Leviathan Ax is Faye's weapon
Brock and Sindri made Leviathan X for the Fae to counter Mjolnir
Mjolnir was once Brok and Sindri's best weapon. That was, until Thor used it for genocide. Wracked with guilt and regret for the unstoppable weapon they had created, new hope arose when they met Faye and gifted her with a Leviathan Ax that rivaled Mjolnir's power.
While the Leviathan X has been a weapon that Kratos has overcome god of war (2018) and God of War RagnarokIt is a weapon that holds strong loving feelings and grief, unlike the indestructible blades of Chaos. While Kratos taunts the blades, he wields the Leviathan Ax reverently, knowing it is the weapon of his fallen love.
