Discussing the recent reveal of a new Spyro the Dragon game and Xbox's treatment of Activision's classic lineup, VGC's Jordan Midler hinted that a remake of The Simpsons: Hit and Run is “happening.”
Love them or hate them, remakes and remasters have become a huge part of the gaming industry, with many developers and publishers dipping into their back-catalog to revisit old games and hopefully bring in their audience. There is one game that almost everyone goes to as their first choice to get a remake, though – The Simpsons: Hit & Run.
Since its release in 2003, Hit & Run has earned a reputation as one of the best licensed games out there, and even if The Simpsons itself has lost some of its luster over the years, Hit & Run has always been at the top of the list of fan requests. That dream may not be as far-fetched as we all think, however, as a reliable insider has suggested that it is actually happening.
A remake of VGC's Jordan Middler Teess Hit and Run is in the works
“One that everyone is absolutely desperate for”
On the most recent episode of VGC: The Video Game Podcast, reliable insider Jordan Midler discussed the state of Activision's back-catalog following the announcement of Spyro: A Realm Beyond at the Xbox Game Showcase. Midler says Activision's next step is to bring back its licensed games, which of course includes Hit and Run.

The next Simpsons game may not be a hit-and-run remake
The Simpsons Hit & Run is a heavily requested remake, but a new Simpsons game is exactly what we need.
Midler says that “everybody's absolutely excited” is happening, which seems like a big nod toward a possible hit-and-run remake. While there are plenty of classic Activision games that would be well-suited for a remake, Midler made things a little clearer by signing off from the podcast and teasing that the team is going to “hit and run” from there.
I think Activision's next step, and they're doing this one very seriously, is to try and bring back that licensed stuff, like making new versions of those licensed games. What everyone is very eager for is happening. – Jordan Midler
Considering how long it's been since Hit and Run was released, many doubted when a remake would happen, but there have been some recent developments that make it seem a bit more likely. Original developer Radical Entertainment has recently revamped it as a new Radical game, which has sparked a lot of buzz (cola) about Hit & Run potentially coming back.
