A gaming PC changed the trajectory of a stray bullet
While PC cases can vary in size and durability, a user can attest to the now and the later. A Reddit user named Angelbabies said their neighbor opened fire in the middle of the night. A stray bullet went through their gaming PC, shattering the side glass panel and damaging the motherboard and both RAM sticks. The case that was damaged was a pink Appavia Genesis mid-tower PC case, which carries a price tag of over $100 on Newegg. Their neighbor said the gun was dropped by their dog. The neighbor immediately went to check on Angelbabies, who was asleep at the time. According to the Angelbabies, the police said the PCs changed the trajectory of the bullet, meaning the Angelbabies would have been hit if the PCs were not where they were.

Engelbabies said broken glass from the tempered glass side panels was scattered throughout their bedroom, which took three days to clean up. Additionally, both of the Angelbabies' RAM sticks were damaged by the bullet, as one of the heat shields was removed from the RAM module. Debris from gunshots and broken glass was also found throughout the PC, along with damage to the graphics card, CPU fan, and various cables. As a result, Angelbabyzz's neighbor was charged with criminal negligence and had his gun confiscated by the police.
In response to questions raised by other Redditors, Angelbabyzz said they will not pursue any additional charges as their neighbor has been cooperative so far. Their neighbor said they would cover any PC replacement expenses if the insurance didn't make a claim. With the cost of RAM and graphics cards rising rapidly in 2026, Angelbabyzz's neighbor may be looking at a steep reimbursement bill.
