A month ago, PlayStation reportedly pulled the plug on its PC port initiative for a first-party release. There was no official announcement made publicly, but PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst is said to have broken the news to employees at a town hall. Going forward, any single-player games will prioritize the PlayStation over other platforms.
It may have had a rocky start, but over time, PC ports of PlayStation titles began to hit their stride, giving PC gamers the opportunity to check out Sony's critically-acclaimed titles on their platform of choice. Now that's over, and I'm sad.

According to recent rumors from an industry insider, those hoping to play Marvel's Wolverine on PC may be out of luck.
Make no mistake, I have a PlayStation 5 Pro and have been there on day one to check out the latest and greatest that Sony has to release. I'll be there on September 24th for Insomniac Games' release. As powerful as the PlayStation 5 Pro is, it can't stand up to top-tier PC gaming rigs. With the 5090 working overdrive, and usually with some DLSS voodoo running in the background, these PlayStation PC ports were running at uncapped frame rates.
You don't really appreciate the responsiveness and technical capabilities of games Spider-Man 2 or Ghost of Tsushima You don't see them running at 120 FPS+. Call it PC gamer snobbery or what have you, but once you experience it, it's hard to go back.
Likewise, I'd love to see PS5 versions of some great games, knowing that, in about a year, I'll get to see them in their highest fidelity. 4K turned up with everything at the highest settings, with minimal compromise. Honestly, even though I've usually completed a game on PlayStation 5 – and maybe even gotten Platinum – I usually end up going much further into the PC version than I anticipated to see my favorite moments in the game.
Of course, this was mostly for comparison, but there are plenty of people who will log multiple playthroughs of games and appreciate having a different experience on PC. Typically, the PC version also features any previously-released DLC, so if you missed out on an add-on or expansion, then you had the opportunity to see that new content on a second go-around. Whatever your reasons were for checking out PlayStation Exclusive on PC, they were all valid, but now that's gone.

I know it could be argued that if Sony is pulling the plug on PlayStation ports, that means they weren't selling well. And while the numbers tell us that's true, I can still be disappointed in the decision. There was a market for ports, however small, and those people would no longer have the opportunity to check out those games. And, at a time when consoles are more expensive than ever, the prospect of simply buying a PlayStation 5 is easier said than done.
Maybe we'll see some games on PC, but right now it looks like Sony has a new plan in store for the PlayStation, and that's not just a console exclusive but a full-fledged exclusive. XBOX appears to be taking that stance in terms of consoles, pulling back from its PS5 ports, but it still has PC versions of its first-party titles.
Sony has made a change, and that's its prerogative, but I'm sad that we don't get to know what games we like. Wolverine or Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet Looks like it's on PC. I guess we'll have to wait for the inevitable PS6 version to get a close approximation of that.
