was officially introduced in Naruto In Chapter #261, June 13, 2005, Jinchūriki were once an integral part of Naruto's comprehensive power system and Boruto suffrage Naruto Uzumaki, the original protagonist of the series, was a jinchuriki and one of the nine that existed in the world. Madara Uchiha, the main villain of the original Naruto series, also became a Ten-Tails Jinchuriki, further highlighting its importance in the story.
However, in Boruto Yuga, 21 years after their introduction, the Jinchuuriki are now dying one by one. What's more, a major change in the power system that has been revealed with recent arcs Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Officially points out that the jinchūriki system is dead and no longer relevant to the overarching plot line of the story. Instead, they have been replaced by a very different power system.

Karma and the introduction of the human tailed beasts The jinchuriki are no longer relevant in Boruto's story
Jinchuriki was originally a primary power system Naruto the story Essentially, a jinchuuriki is a vessel in which a tailed beast is sealed. Generally, tailed beasts were used for warfare between jinchūriki villages. By sealing powerful tailed beasts that stood as chakra masses within humans, these weapons controlled every village and acted almost like nuclear weapons on the world. It was Naruto Uzumaki who revolutionized the world by befriending these tailed beasts and became their leader for the first time.
“Since the Biju have unimaginable power, every country wanted to use them for military purposes. The Jinchuriki exists to control this power of the Biju.” — Chiyo tells Jinchuriki, Naruto Chapter #261
Thanks to Naruto, the tailed beasts were not just weapons and were allowed to roam the world freely. Naruto Uzumaki was one of two Jinchuriki left at the end of the series, the other being Killer Bee. Unfortunately, Boruto: Naruto Next Generation's chapter 55 was officially released. Kurama was officially dead, and Naruto was no longer a Jinchuri.
“Normally, when a jinchuriki's bijuu is taken out, they die. But this doesn't apply to you. The bijuu chakra just disappears. It might seem to others that you're dead, but you're just in a temporary state of shock. Don't worry, you'll wake up soon. There's a price to pay for Baryon mode, but you're careful going into my life. No more supernatural powers, so if you do this much, you'll join me soon, but that day Until then, be well.- Naruto loses his Jinchuuriki status with Kurama's death, Boruto Chapter #55
what's more, Boruto: Two Blue VortexesOn June 18, 2026 Chapter 35 officially began its new arc, apparently moving away from the Tailed Beast Power System. Boruto Long ago in Chapter #1 we were introduced to the power of Karma. Since then, this power of karma has been the primary system of power in the world. In Two Blue Vortex, another power system related to the Tailed Beast was introduced to replace the Jinchuuriki system. This is the system of the “human tailed beast”. Essentially, by combining the powers of a tailed beast with that of a human, Boruto's Mikio Ikemoto has invented a system far superior to the Jinchuuriki system. This was evident once again in the Mamushi arc, which ended its run in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 33 on April 20, 2026.

Why Killer Bee stands as Boruto's final jinchuriki
with Boruto After officially walking away from the jinchuriki system forever, Killer Bee remains as the last permanent jinchuriki in the story. After the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Gyuki, the eight-tailed beast, decided to stay behind with Killer Bee due to their bond of friendship. B won't live forever, and once he dies, the jinchuriki system will officially end with him.
There are a few other characters with tailed beast powers, such as Shinju Jura, who is the incarnation of the Ten Tails, as well as Himawari Uzumaki, who has the power of Kurama within her. However, the creator of Boruto, Mikio Ikemoto, has made it clear that they are not Jinchuuriki. In fact, Jura is the incarnation of the Ten-Tails in human form. In other words, Jura is a Ten-Tails and not a human with Ten-Tails powers. Similarly, Kurama has officially confirmed Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes In Chapter 25, Himawari is similar to Jura in that she is not a Jinchuri but a beast with a human tail. With all these things in mind we are confirmed that the Jinchuuriki system is officially dead and Boruto has said goodbye to it forever.
“You're no ordinary shinobi. In fact, you're a bit different from a jinchuriki… with a tailed beast inside. You're human, after all, you're just like me and Jura.” – Kurama explains why Himawari is not a Jinchuriki, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #25
After the bee, the jinchuriki system will officially die in Boruto
The jinchuriki system supported it Naruto The franchise for a very long time and stood out as a great addition to it. Unfortunately, with the threat of Otsutsuki, the villains are simply too strong for the Tailed Beasts to make any difference in the fight. Someone as strong as the Tailed Beast Jinchuriki would barely manage to hold their own against the likes of Otsutsuki. Naruto Uzumaki, with his Six Path Power, still needs help from Sasuke to stand his ground against Momoshiki. This shows that the gap in power between the Tailed Beast and the villains of the Boruto series is only growing.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex welcomes its new Hashirama successor
Hashirama was a legendary Hokage with the power of Wood Release in Naruto. He now has a new successor in Boruto.
As such, there was a need to transcend the jinchūriki system and introduce something that would allow the series' heroes to coexist with monsters like Akatsuki and Shinju. That being said, the jinchuriki system will last as long as Killer Bee exists, but it only exists symbolically in this world. It's playing no significant role in the story and is essentially already cut from the main plot. Once Bee dies, the system dies with him, and it will indeed be a sad day for all Naruto fans. Still, the new system of Humanoid Tailed Beasts is essentially very similar, but an upgraded form that allows the user to extract more power from the Tailed Beasts and allows them to compete with powerful monsters like Otsutsuki as well. In that sense, we're definitely happy to see this system evolve further, setting up exciting confrontations for the future of the franchise.
