The studio also confirmed that the treasure was the final reward for the July 17th Community Treasure Hunt event.

Along with an entire underwater map to explore for treasure, Ubisoft has also given players opportunities to unlock free rewards. To acknowledge some of the major milestones the game has managed to hit, Ubisoft revealed special codes. Assassin's Creed Black Flag resynced that players can enter to unlock unique rewards. To celebrate the game's launch, players can unlock a monkey shipmate for Jackdaw, while 2 million sales unlock the Crimson Storm Sail and 1500 Animus keys as a thank you to fans. Players can use Animus Keys as in-game currency to spend on cosmetics within the Exchange Shop.
