With Persona 4 Golden launching in 2012 and then porting to modern consoles in 2023, we’ve had plenty of time to come to know and love Yu Narukami and his friends on the Investigation Team as they traverse through televisions trying to solve a small-town murder spree.
Each member of the Investigation Team in Persona 4 Golden has their own unique role to build. Without any kind of EXP share system in the game, though, switching parties between story beats requires some grinding between main missions. If you’re up to the challenge, here’s the best team party for each dungeon.
Updated on July 18, 2026: With the recent reveal of the gameplay for Persona 4 Revival, we’re seeing plenty of people going back through the Persona series – and who can blame you? We’re updating our guide to the best party for each dungeon in Persona 4 Golden to make sure you’re as strong as can be until Revival launches in February 2027.
Yukiko’s Castle: Teddie, Yosuke, and Chie

Teddie |
Yosuke Hanamura |
Chie Satonaka |

Saying this is the best party option for Yukiko’s Castle feels generous, since these three are literally your only options at this point in P4G, and Chie doesn’t even get her Persona until midway through the dungeon, either. Not only is this your first real dungeon, but you’re also still getting the hang of what kind Personas you’ll want to keep on you.
With the main character left to fill gaps in type advantage left by the team (who’s using Wind, Ice, and Physical attacks at this point), careful use of the Velvet Room will be your ticket to success. Personas go up to level 15 in this dungeon ahead of the boss fight, so level up your teammates to a similar level for the best results.
Teddie should take on the role of healer here, primarily, with Yosuke and Chie using their brutal combination of physical attacks that use HP instead of SP as he heals them throughout. Yosuke and Chie also have access to elemental magic, with Yosuke dealing Wind damage and Chie doubling up with Teddie on Ice damage, though she learns a multi-target Ice move at level 14. Use Yu’s Personas to deal Fire and Electric damage for now, should such damage types be necessary.
Kanji’s Steamy Bathhouse: Teddie, Yosuke, and Yukiko

Teddie |
Yosuke Hanamura |
Yukiko Amagi |

With Personas in the Steamy Bathhouse ranging between levels 16-26 ahead of the boss fight against Kanji’s Shadow, you should aim to have the party leveled accordingly. Since Teddie is the more prevalent Ice magic user between him and Chie as they level up, we’ll be keeping him in the party for Ice damage and healing support for the most part. He won’t learn new moves until he’s level 36, though, so he’s with his initial move set for this dungeon as well.
Yosuke also sticks around into the Steamy Bathhouse dungeon with you, with improving Wind and Physical abilities coming with him as he continues to level up. He learns both Magaru, the multi-target variant of his Wind skill, and Tentarafoo for a chance to inflict Confuse, but his Wind magic boost is the more prevalent of the two additional moves in this dungeon.
We swapped Yukiko into the party here, though, giving her the task of dealing Fire damage and assisting with Teddie’s healing for now. She’s the first to get a revival skill, but we focused mostly on her Fire magic for combat and let Teddie heal, versus having Yukiko waste the SP on reviving unless absolutely necessary. Yu can use Light and Dark magic Personas, as well as any Electric magic, to deal damage in this dungeon.
Rise’s Marukyu Striptease: Kanji, Teddie, and Yukiko

Kanji Tatsumi |

Yukiko Amagi |

You’ll be dealing with Personas that are between levels 27 and 35 in the Marukyu Striptease dungeon, so you should aim to have your party leveled to be able to handle fights with enemies of this level. Teddie still doesn’t have new moves until he hits level 36, though, so rely on his solid early-game skills for now and level him up throughout the dungeon as he works to heal Yukiko and our new addition, Kanji.
Kanji overall has better Physical attack moves than Yosuke, and now that he’s an option, he’ll be our main striker. He’s got Electric moves we can make use of, too, which allows Yu to focus on Wind, Light, and Dark magic. With Teddie bringing Ice magic to the table, Yukiko armed with Fire moves, and both of them knowing a few healing buffs, you ought to be in good shape.
Mitsuo’s Void Quest: Kanji, Yukiko, and Yosuke

Yukiko Amagi |
Yosuke Hanamura |

With the biggest range in enemy levels so far, you’ll be up against Personas between levels 36 and 46 here, so your teammates will be learning some helpful new moves for the Void Quest dungeon. Yu will need Ice, Dark, and Light magic Personas in here, but the bulk of Personas in the Void Quest dungeon are weak to your friends’ magic skills.
Yosuke will need to grind a bit to level up to where Kanji and Yukiko are, but he brings some solid new moves with him when he does. He upgrades his Wind magic and even gets Wind Boost in the time between when we left him last and when we brought him into Void Quest with us, and his support skills can play a valuable role in combat as well.
Yukiko learns a lot between levels 30 and 45, with Diarama and Mediarama providing bigger healing boosts now that Teddie has left the party for the moment, putting the healing role onto her. She’ll also get Maragion for better group Fire damage, especially with Fire Boost to back it all up. Kanji, meanwhile,
Naoto’s Secret Laboratory: Kanji, Yukiko, and Yosuke (Again)

Kanji Tatsumi |
Yukiko Amagi |
Yosuke Hanamura |

Once again in Naoto’s Secret Lab, we’ve got our triple-threat to cover Physical, Electric, Wind, Fire, healing, and stat-resetting powers, meaning that Yu will be responsible, once again, for Ice, Dark, and Light Magic. Not only are they a solid build, but after going through Void Quest together, on top of any leveling you may have done between story segments, your team should be in pretty good shape by now.
There’s a much larger variety of enemies here. Yu will need to deal with ten of them with his Persona advantage, 18 have weaknesses to your party’s typing, and only six have no weaknesses at all. Just like before, fill the gaps left by your friends to clear this dungeon with no problems.
Heaven: Kanji, Yukiko, and Naoto (Then Yosuke)
|
Kanji Tatsumi |
Yukiko Amagi |
Naoto Shirogane (Dungeon) |
Yosuke Hanamura (Boss Fight) |
|---|---|---|---|
|

|
With Naoto Shirogane now in the party and the Personas ahead between levels 55 and 66, having the right team composition for the Heaven dungeon in P4G is essential. In fact, that’s why we swap her out just ahead of the boss fight – Naoto really only learns insta-kill attacks for the elements that make her unique, Light and Dark, making her somewhat ineffective for the boss fight here if Yosuke is leveled up and ready for the challenge with heavy-damage Wind moves.
Both Kanji and Yukiko are good choices for Heaven throughout, in the dungeon and for the boss fight. Kanji is continuing to accrue heavy Physical damage moves that rely on his HP instead of SP in addition to his heavy-damage Electric moves, and Yukiko’s healing skills have improved massively, with full-party HP restoration and full revival capabilities for teammates that should fall in battle on top of her heavy-damage Fire moves.
This configuration leaves you to pick up Ice moves throughout the dungeon, and you’ll need Light or Dark magic when Naoto leaves as well if you’d like it. She does have Garula, though, so she can cover Wind magic damage as well until Yosuke returns.
Magatsu Inaba And Magatsu Mandala: Kanji, Yukiko, and Naoto (Then Yosuke)
|
Kanji Tatsumi |
Yukiko Amagi |
Naoto Shirogane (Dungeon) |
Yosuke Hanamura (Boss Fight) |
|---|---|---|---|
|
|
|
|
With the hellish dungeon ahead in Magatsu Inaba pitting you against Personas between levels 66 and 78, you won’t need to boost the team too much beforehand if they were leveled up for the Heaven dungeon previously, especially if you keep the same team configuration as before with Kanji and Yukiko staying for the whole thing, and Naoto swapping with Yosuke for boss battles.
Naoto is practically a must for the dungeon-crawling sections of Magatsu-Inaba – plenty of Shadows are weak to either Light or Dark magic, and you have swarms of them coming at you up ahead, so having her instantly kill as many as possible is always a good way to start a fight in this dungeon. That perk is exactly what makes her a bad fit for the boss fight, though, who cannot be one-shotted, so swap her with Yosuke once again for the best party in P4G.
Enemies get much stronger once you reach Magatsu Mandala, so you’ll need to ensure Yu has Ice damage output covered without Teddie or Chie along to do it for you, especially with a few enemies having Ice weaknesses you can exploit. Use Kanji and Yukiko’s heavy-damage magic, combined with Kanji’s increasingly impressive list of Physical skills to get through.

While the enemies in the bonus dungeon from Golden aren’t particularly tricky level-wise, the gimmick of the dungeon is that your SP is halved after each battle, so unless you have a good way to recover SP in ample supply, it’s wise to rely on Kanji and Yosuke’s physical skills. Chie is helpful here if you have her leveled up, but the guys will be of a higher level if you’ve been using our party recommendations for Persona 4 Golden so far.
Reserve SP for Yukiko to use on healing Kanji and Yosuke as needed while they use their HP to deal damage. Your Personas should also be Physical or support Personas, able to either heal the team or provide stat buffs or debuffs as needed. Unfortunately, some Shadows you’ll see are resistant to Physical damage, and it’s a tease because almost all of them have elemental weaknesses, too – just be careful with your SP no matter how you spend it!
Yomotsu Hirasaka: Yosuke, Yukiko, and Naoto (And Then Kanji)

Yosuke Hanamura |
Yukiko Amagi |
Naoto Shirogane (Dungeon) |
Kanji Tatsumi (Boss Fight) |

The real final dungeon is only available if you’ve gone down the True Ending path. There’s a bigger spread of Shadows in Yomotsu Hirasaka than anywhere else, so careful party planning here is a must. Everyone’s got their best moves by now, so it’s really a matter of using the most effectively in conjunction with your Persona stock.
Yu will have to cover Ice and Wind throughout the dungeon, though Naoto’s Garudyne can certainly help with Wind where it’s needed, but not many enemies ahead actually have any Ice weakness to exploit. Having strong teammates with fully awakened Personas is the key to winning the final boss fight in Persona 4 Golden and seeing the more touching of the endings in the game.
