In a new update to Steam, the platform has made some changes to gifts that should make it much easier for gamers to get the gifts they want. In short, Steam users can now share their wishlists with others, who can then purchase any of the listed games without requiring a subscription to the platform. Games can now be gifted in regions, and gamers can be given digital gift cards for Steam without the sender needing to know their account information. All that is required from this point is the user's email address, and it does not have to be the email address associated with the account. This could help non-gamers easily buy gifts on Steam, and help increase the privacy of users requesting gifts.

In addition to the changes to the gifts, some minor changes have been made to the wishlists. Steam users can now organize wishlists into separate categories, and when sending a wishlist to another person, can choose to send only one category. For example, one person can send a wish list category to another person with only educational games or a birthday wish list, while keeping the rest of their wish lists separate. This should ensure that the user has any games in their wish list that they don't want others to know about.
Since their inception, Steam Wish Lists have been an extremely useful way to give gifts to friends on the platform. If left public, users can browse their friends' wishlists and purchase a game from there that will be instantly added to their account, providing a convenient way to gift on the fly. Combined with the already existing ability to buy games now and gift them at a later date, there are ample options for giving PC gamers what they want without going through any significant hassles.
With Steam seeing an average of 350 games added to the platform every day, there's already plenty to potentially satisfy players.
