Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Scrapped Pokemon and Evolution Leak

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are considered two of the best Pokemon games in the series, though as with all Pokemon games, it probably depends on the age of the person you ask. Still, it was a great time for Pokemon, and the game introduced new Pokemon to the series that are still widely popular today.

However, like all games, there was a lot of content and ideas that never made it into Diamond and Pearl, and were eventually left on the cutting room floor. Because of how secretive the games industry can be, we don't usually see these cuttings, but thanks to a new leak, several cut Pokemon designs from Diamond and Pearl were recently revealed for the first time.

A bunch of Scrapped Diamond and Pearl Pokemon have been leaked

First shared on his own website by a Pokemon fan named Lewtwo, these designs come from the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl: Behind the Scenes DVD – Make All, which details a two-year development timeline within Game Freak, but was never publicly released.

On the DVD, you can see many Pokemon designs that never made it into Diamond and Pearl, including various designs for Pokemon such as Turtwig, Piplup, Chimchar, and all their evolutions. You can also see some interesting ideas for completely new Pokemon that didn't even make it into the game.

For example, one design looks like Delibird Evolution, which looks completely silly, and you can see why it was cut. You can also see the pre-development for lapras, development for what looks like swallows and what looks like yellow shalos.

It's all very interesting, and you can see where some of the designs have been recreated for other Pokemon. For example, the initial Water Starter looked like a dog with a lot of fluff and a horn on its head, which could be separated and turned into the final Water Evolution Samurot in Pokémon Black and White.

It's an interesting insight into the development process at Game Freak, and you have to imagine with all the leaks that have come out recently, we might actually get a similar row for Pokemon Wind and Waves, which looks like it will have an impressive number of new arrivals.
