New game design from Freak PokemonA glimpse of what the scrapped Delibird Evolution looked like, or what it might look like if added in the future, has surfaced online. 2026 marks the 30th anniversary Pokemon franchise, and this is far from the first time that an unpublished Pokémon has appeared online, either through leaks or official posts. In this case, Delibird Evolution was part of the planned lineup of Pokémon for Generation 4, Pokemon Diamond and PearlAnd it comes from a 2004 DVD showing Game Freak at work on games.
Similarly, a possible lapras design for pre-development Pokemon Appearing online 20 years later, it was planned for Gen 4, but was first designed between 2003 and 2004. While this isn't a leak, while the DVD was legally acquired at auction, the franchise has seen an abundance of leaks about unreleased Pokémon over the years. One of the biggest was in Gen 9, when the entire Pokedex was leaked online a week before the games release. Some leaks have also been shown for Gen 10, although they cannot be confirmed at the moment.
Pokemon Shows Official Unreleased Delibird Evolution in Gen 4 Documentary
“Pokemon Diamond and Pearl: Behind the Scenes DVD – Make it all” The documentary recently surfaced online, along with images of several released beta designs and unreleased Pokemon. The DVD was revealed when it was listed at auction earlier this year. Recently, a collector named Neos was able to obtain a copy of the DVD, and the contents were shared online. Among the many Pokemon in the documentary is a new version of Time, but this is a new version of Deliberate. Making the Pokemon look like a bird version of Santa Claus. A design that builds more on Delibird's Christmas themes.

An unreleased Delibird Evolution has been shared as a beta sketch on lewtwo.net, but it was never released. The documentary includes several early sketches for the Pokémon that were eventually released, though, such as Pokemon Scarlet and Purpleof Baxcalibur and Tandemaus, Pokemon Sun and Moonof Sandygast, and more. Fans can also see early designs for popular Gen 4 Pokemon, such as starters, their evolutions, Dialga, Palkia, and even Arceus. These iterations were not complete, but clearly shaped the Pokemon that fans know today.
PokemonThe Yellow Shelos and Gastrodon also make an appearance, their first mention being in this year. PokopiaThe researchers said they were studying the yellow forms of these Pokemon. It looks like these designs may return in Gen 10, if at all Pokopia Lore is something to go by. After all, many beta designs for Gen 4 found their way into the franchise at a later date, so it would make sense for the hyped Yellow Shelos and Gastrodon to follow suit.
The unreleased Delibird Evolution may also join the mix, though this is the first time it's been mentioned and shown to the world. Fans will have to wait and see Pokemon wind and waves' Brand-new Pokemon includes some scrapped designs from Gen 4, but it could be a lot better.
