We have another update on the development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, and we just have to be patient for a little while longer.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi says that work on the final part of the remake trilogy is “on time and on schedule,” suggesting no internal delays. Although he doesn't have much to say right now, he added that we'll have to wait “some time” for more news, hinting that a reveal is probably on the cards soon.
The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director gives us an update on the development of Part 3
“I'm unable to share concrete details at this time,” says Hamaguchi, which isn't particularly surprising. “What I can say is that development itself is moving forward on time and on schedule. We believe this will be a title we can confidently deliver as the culmination of the trilogy.
“We know many fans are eagerly waiting, and preparations for the announcement are ongoing. Please give it some time.”
So, I'm grasping at straws a bit here, but Hamaguchi could have left it at “no comment” and moved on. Instead, he seems eager to emphasize it will be Be some news soon – and very soon, judging by his choice of words.
That fits with what we heard earlier about the development of Part 3. For starters, it's enough of a development that we're hearing some gameplay details, like how the snowboarding minigame will return with an “enhanced” version of Queen's Blood. In fact, as of December 2025, we've heard that work on the gameplay for Part 3 is “almost complete,” presumably while it's being refined now if everything sticks to schedule.
If you can believe it, it's been three years since Rebirth dropped, so it would make sense to get a trailer for the follow-up soon. But first, we have the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S ports of Rebirth, coming on June 3.
