Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake gets a bizarre real-world treasure hunt stunt

Ubisoft has partnered with Unsolved Hunts for one of the most lucrative marketing blitzes in gaming history. In “celebration” of the upcoming launch of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, a treasure chest containing gold coins and a precious opal, worth a total of about $500k USD, has been hidden somewhere in the Caribbean. One lucky fan, either by spending enough cash to traverse 92,541 square miles or the ability to solve 15 puzzles and then go dig it (???), will be handsomely rewarded for their extreme efforts.

Giant game publishers have a lot of money to do all kinds of weird and wild things. It is a bid, of course, to make more money, and sometimes it is successful. Few concepts raise awareness more easily than the prospect of free money. Which it doesn't Technically but with a $500,000 prize at stake, it's close enough.

Yes, it is quite normal

Edward Kenway resynced in Assassin's Creed Black Flag.

By the way, did I say opal? I should have clarified. It is a crystal skull adorned with opals. Fanatic, right?

They're calling the scavenger hunt “Edward Kenway's Lost Treasure” and you can pre-order it now (???) for $39.99 on Gold & Crystal's website. There's a digital interface involved, you see, and you'll have to solve 15 puzzles over an unspecified period of release. But if you pre-order, you get access to a puzzle before this unique experience rolls out a week before the November 9 launch. I'm not talking about black flags. That is July 9th. I'm talking… this thing.

There are several other tiers you can choose between, by the way, all the way up to the $229.99 version, which will get you a bunch of swag. For the record, none of the levels include a copy of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. Because that would be stupid.

Born out of a collaboration between Gold and Crystal, rooted in the history of piracy Assassin's Creed Black Flag resynced And Unsolved Hunts, a treasure hunt that takes you deep into the archives and forgotten mysteries of the Caribbean… With nothing but your wits and perseverance, you must solve 15 puzzles to discover a chest hidden somewhere in the Caribbean and claim a treasure worth $000,000.

Do you have enough wit, persistence, and at least forty bucks around to gather dust? Ubisoft and Unsolved Hunts expect this contest of wits and anything else to last between two and five years, by the way, which may seem frankly absurd. But from what I've heard, timed information releases like these “puzzles” are clearly designed to keep things simple. extremely Unclear for a long enough period that, hey, yes, it could take hypothetically longer.

Or maybe you'll chance upon a chest while swimming through an incredibly unique lagoon in a far corner of the Caribbean Sea. i don't know good luck
