After years of delays and silence, Capcom's Pragmata is finally out in the wild, and, somehow, they've delivered another banger of a title, offering some of the most fluid and systematically satisfying combat encounters you could wish for, on top of a heartwarming story. Even when the cards are stacked against them, Capcom finds a way to surprise everyone, and we can't get enough of their new IP.
And, speaking of its awesome combat, there are plenty of ways to elevate your gameplay, from upgrading your weapons to enhancing Diana's hacking abilities to equipping Hugh's suit with powerful mods, which can lead to some hideous builds that will make you feel unstoppable. And, if you're looking for some great mods to use during your gameplay, you're in luck, because there are a handful of 'must-uses' that will give you plenty of benefits!
Close the quarters
Rounding things off, we have the Close Quarters mode, which is one of the first attack modes you'll gain access to in Pragmatism, and will serve you well throughout your playthrough. Essentially, this mode will increase your damage output by ten percent when within ten meters of your target. And, spoiler alert, most of your combat encounters will be up close and personal in Pragmata.
So, slapping on this mod and leaving it equipped will give you a ten percent attack boost for most of your encounters, which is a huge advantage, especially during boss fights. Most games will be irrelevant after the launch upgrades, this will be effective all the way to the credits roll, and we find that to be pretty amazing!
If you're in sections with more range-based enemies, temporarily swap this mode for Long-Range Targeting mode, as it's essentially the same deal, except for faraway enemies, increasing your damage output by ten percent on targets 20 meters or more!
Untapped potential
Next, we have Untapped Potential, which is a hacking ability mod that gives enemies an extra incentive to pass hacking nodes while hacking, as it increases your damage output by ten percent, while simultaneously reducing incoming damage by 10 percent for 15 seconds. And, yes, this effect will stack with Close Quarters mode, giving you a 20 percent boost in attack power.
Hacking is the name of the game, and while you'll often use your hacking nodes to apply unique effects to your targets, this one is a must, especially if you have Close Quarters mode installed. Don't sleep on this mode, as it will save your life in more ways than one, as its ten percent damage reduction buff is a godsend in the more chaotic sections of the game!
Overload weapons
From here, we move on to the Overclocked Weaponry Mod, which charges all chargeable weapons a full 30 percent faster, allowing you to unleash their devastating blasts of energy much faster than before. Again, combining this support mode with the previous two will have you wiping the floor with most enemies that dare take you on, and we're just getting started.
Weapons like the Lim Cannon, Charge Piercer, and Homing Missiles are high-damage weapons that become more powerful with upgrades. And, here's the thing, you can reduce the recharge time of these weapons with upgrades, and stack them with this mod to charge them even faster, allowing you to dish out massive amounts of damage in quick succession!
Quick fix
While offensive-based modes are incredible, so are defense modes, such as Quick Fix, as they allow you to stay in combat longer than ever before. At the same time, hang onto your healing resources a little longer, which can go a long way, especially on harder difficulties. Quick Fix will increase the effectiveness of repair cartridges by ten percent, while making them quicker to use, which is a win in our book.
This mod doesn't allow you to use too many repair cartridges as it replenishes Hugh's health, but increasing the speed at which you use them allows you to quickly patch yourself up and get back into the fight. If you've made it to some of the more hectic challenges or areas of the game, you can imagine how great this mod would be in those situations. Don't fall asleep in quick fix mode!
heat transfer
Heat transfer mode is next, which helps fill all enemies' heat gauges a solid ten percent faster, allowing you to take them down at a much faster rate than before, which will allow Hog to perform special attacks on them that can lead to even more bonuses. If you love using the heat hacking node, you should pair this awesome attack mode with it, as you'll be constantly downing and immobilizing enemies without breaking a sweat.
Transferring heat with a heat hacking node, and the other damage-focused mods mentioned above, is a recipe for turning Hugh and Diana into a whirlwind of damage and chaos, and we're here for it. There's nothing like taking down an enemy, pulling out a fully upgraded shockwave gun and delivering a point-blank blast to its weak point for massive damage, and this mod does a lot of that, and we can't get enough of it!
quarrelsome
Speaking of downing enemies, the Skrmisher Mod is our next pick, as it capitalizes more on downed enemies, allowing you to deal 10 percent more weapon or hacking damage, which goes hand-in-hand with the other mods provided above. Plus, yes, it will also stack with other damage modes, potentially giving you a staggering 30 percent attack boost.
Picture it this way: if you have a heat hacking node equipped, as well as close quarters, untapped potential, heat transfer, and skirmisher modes, your damage output potential will be through the roof, as you'll get more attack damage through the hacking nodes, then increase it further by attacking the enemy and shutting it down. This is a very powerful combination that must be built if you are looking to maximize your damage!
Collateral damage
Collateral Damage is our next mod of choice, as it takes 30 percent of Critical Shot damage and applies it to all nearby enemies, which can be a surprising amount of damage with the proper build (as we've demonstrated before). Not only does this scale with Close Quarters and Skirmisher, it also makes Critical Shot worth a go, as performing that feat can lead to additional rewards with later upgrades.
If you're looking for a fifth mod to fill your last mod slot, consider collateral damage, especially if you're going for a heat gauge-centric build that prioritizes close-range damage. Not only does this allow you to rush in for a devastating attack, but it also deals massive damage to all other enemies in the area, allowing you to easily rinse and repeat your game plan!
The last resort
Finally, we have the last resort mod, if you go with the closed quarters, untapped potential, heat transfer, and skirmisher build that should take up your last mod slot that we provided earlier. Why is this mod so powerful? Well, it increases the damage of your last shot by 50 percent, unless the weapon is a primary unit. So, pretty much everything that a grip gun or a pulse carbine isn't, which means it works on the most powerful weapons in the game.
Last Resort will turn some weapons directly into mini-nukes with the build provided above, allowing you to get close to an enemy, knock them down and make a last save shot while passing through the hacking node. While that may seem like a lot to keep track of, it will become second nature, as you'll be constantly picking up weapons, hacking, and downing enemies. These mods are the best, and we recommend everyone to use them to get out the absurd damage!
