Borderlands 4 just can't be more borderlands
After a disastrous film adaptation and three very similar mainline games, 4 Borderlands is an opportunity to evolve.
The trailer is so good, that even though Pitchford couldn't talk about it, he couldn't help himself. In his words, he is “terrified.”
It's unclear when this new full-length trailer is set to debut, but with the Game Awards set to air in just one week (December 12), that could be a possible landing spot. Lest we forget that Borderlands 4 was originally revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live, another Geoff Keighley presentation.
Will there be gameplay?
Speculations aside, one thing fans want to know is if there are any gameplay elements in this new trailer. It's hard to say, but Pitchford replied to a fan that if that happens, hinting at the possibility.
The trailer looks to show off our new playable characters, as well as some “familiar faces,” according to Pitchford. “You'll have a lot to chew on,” he wrote in response to one comment.
As for a potential thumbnail, Pitchford didn't hold back, posting a GIF of the end of the original reveal. That's because, as it turns out, the beginning of this new trailer begins with a frame from the previous one, per Pitchford.
Unfortunately, or fortunately if you're Gearbox, that seems to be all the information we'll get before the official drop.
That said, if you're a Borderlands fan in 2025 than 2024, it's going to be a better year. We have to wait now.
