Boxing body offers prize money to beaten Italian amid gender row

PARIS: The International Boxing Federation has pledged prize money to Italy's Angela Carini, whose 46-second Olympic loss to an Algerian boxer has left the sport on the ropes at the center of a gender merit row. Carini stopped her fight against Algerian Imane Khelief after landing two powerful punches to the face, refused to shake hands with her opponent and then collapsed to the canvas in tears.
