Breakers appear to be officially dead

It looks like Dragon Ball: Breakers is indeed as dead as we all feared, with a recent advertisement leaving it out of the “active” Dragon Ball game lineup.

As with FighterZ and Kakarot legacy games, Sparking Zero is about to get its big expansion that can fix all the problems everyone has picked with it, and Xenoverse 3 is officially on the horizon, never far behind when it comes to Dragon Ball games. That's just the cream of the crop, as there is more Active games in franchises that don't immediately jump to mind.

Gekishin Squadra and multiple Dragon Ball mobile games are also going strong, but there is one recent online release that sadly never made an impact. I am, of course, talking about Dragon Ball: The Breakers, an online asymmetric game that seems to have been out for a while. Thanks to a recent update, it looks like the time of death has all been confirmed.

Bandai does not consider Dragon Ball: Breakers an “active” game

With less than 100 concurrent players on Steam, that might be reasonable

As pointed out by Twitter user TheHomiErikMod, an advertising flier was recently handed out at an event where Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was publicly playable for the first time. The flyer is obviously serving as a reminder that there are plenty of other Dragon Ball games to play while you wait for Xenoverse 3, but which ones are interesting to note. are not included.

Next to Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, which makes sense since it recently had its final DLC and CyberConnect2, Dragon Ball: The Breakers isn't specifically mentioned in the flyer. Considering even FighterZ and Xenoverse 2 (which recently had its actual final DLC), this is pretty telling of the state of the game.

In fact, as pointed out by Twitter user SLOplays, this is the closest thing we've gotten to an “official” confirmation that Breakers is done. It seems that way for a long time due to the declining player count, but even more so since the game's last major content drop was released a little less than a year ago.

It seems unlikely that Bandai Namco will explicitly say that The Breakers will not receive any additional content until it confirms that the game is going completely offline but, for now, this is all the confirmation we need to know that the game is done. At least it's one of the most interesting Dragon Ball games of the bunch, if not the most successful.
