A reliable Call of Duty insider claims that developers working on the game view Xbox's recent Game Pass price increase as a “positive” overall.
As we all painfully know, the Xbox hasn't really had a great couple of years. Not only has it faced several mass cuts and game cancellations, but Xbox's strategy as a whole has been questioned as it moves away from being a first-party publisher. The final nail in the coffin for some Xbox users, though, was the recent Game Pass price hike.
For a while, the Xbox's AC has been passed up because of how cheap and easy-to-use games are up its sleeve, but that changed when the Xbox significantly increased the price and justified it by adding a bunch of things that no one wanted. While most Xbox fans are justifiably upset about the whole situation, it's clearly not a sentiment that's shared by the Call of Duty developers.
Unlike the rest of us, Call of Duty devs are reportedly “positive” about the Game Pass price increase.
Game Pass seems to make it very difficult to get bonuses
As Insider Gaming points out, trusted Call of Duty insider Ghostfhope recently took to Twitter to make a surprising claim about how the Game Pass price hike is being viewed by those working on Xbox's biggest series – Call of Duty. GhostofHope spoke to “several” developers working on the series, who claimed the price increase was viewed positively.
According to those unnamed developers, the price increase is a win for developers because it will “lead to more revenue”, giving them greater control over their future and the games they can make. Xbox price increases also reportedly come with bonuses if the team is successful, meaning developers are incentivized to make more selling games to hit those bonuses.
I spoke with several Call of Duty developers who said the recent price increase for Game Pass from $19.99 to $29.99 is a positive for Call of Duty Studios. – GhostofHope
It's not just developers who are feeling positive lately, either, as GhostofHope reports that the “vibe” at Activision is “very positive” when it comes to Black Ops 7. This is apparently after the executive team “wasn't happy” with the game a few months ago, although it's not clear if this was a direct increase to the game P.
